16:25	bencomp	pdurbin: I've been looking at http://www.fedsm.eu/fitsm lately, in order to better understand the concepts and processes around IT Service Management. I am starting to think the issues related to the Harvard Dataverse are 'messing up' the issue list on GitHub - perhaps mostly the one relating to metadata blocks

16:28	bencomp	the issues that are in GitHub sometimes relate only to the Harvard Dataverse service (e.g. custom metadata blocks), but it seems they are handled by changing code and supporting files that are not necessarily 'good' for us

16:34	bencomp	but if the custom metadata blocks issues are really not for Dataverse instances other than the one run at Harvard, that is a matter of so-called "configuration management" and not something that should require developers
16:34	pdurbin	for example, there is a "Dataverse 4.0: Post-Deployment Curation' milestone at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/milestones that is all about Harvard's installation and not much about code or other people's installation

16:39	bencomp	OTOH I know it's not easy to keep things separated without creating a real issue/ticket mess and enormous overhead
