14:13 pdurbin bencomp: some chatter about testing and code coverage yesterday: http://irclog.iq.harvard.edu/dataverse/2015-11-04
14:14 bencomp pdurbin: no way!
14:21 bencomp pdurbin: michbarsinai is right about creating objects in tests and sending them to a printer
14:22 bencomp and JSF backing beans shouldn't do much. certainly not keep state for the page that a user sees
15:31 bencomp was hoping that #datatags was a channel so I could ask michbarsinai about it, but I just autocreated the channel
15:40 pdurbin bencomp: I could send iqlogbot into a #datatags channel if you want :)
16:17 bencomp that's okay, pdurbin, I don't want to be the lonely guy talking to myself
16:17 bencomp and for publishing short messages, I prefer Twitter :)
16:18 bencomp it seems that in our test install (4.2) a stale password reset request (long expired) prevented a user to convert his account to a shib account

16:31 pdurbin huh
16:32 pdurbin bencomp: is there a stacktrace?
16:33 bencomp Servlet.service() for servlet Faces Servlet threw exception
16:33 bencomp org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: update or delete on table "builtinuser" violates foreign key constraint "fk_passwordresetdata_builtinuser_id" on table "passwordresetdata"
16:33 bencomp Detail: Key (id)=(5) is still referenced from table "passwordresetdata".
16:33 bencomp ... was how I figured
16:34 bencomp we're going to do some investigating
16:54 pdurbin huh
16:54 pdurbin bencomp: if you can reproduce it, please open a github issue (with steps how)
16:56 bencomp will do
16:57 pdurbin shauna: tell your friends! Job Opportunity at Harvard for Data Management Software Developer - Google Groups - https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/dataverse-community/adweuUgxlNc
16:58 pdurbin actually, anyone who has friends in Boston should tell their friends :)

21:31 pdurbin nice title
21:49 axfelix joined #dataverse
21:52 bencomp and a good read too
22:09 bencomp pleased to see that my education covered pretty much all topics in the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge
22:09 bencomp I'm also reminded of the ACM/IEEE Software Engineering Code of Ethics and Professional Practice https://www.acm.org/about/se-code
22:09 pdurbin maybe I'll try to check it out

23:42 shauna pdurbin: I can pass the job listing around but I doubt I know anyone who would apply.  The listing fits a lot of intimidating requirements in such a short space.
23:42 pdurbin heh. fair enough
23:43 pdurbin I'll be helping this person from the Dataverse side
23:45 pdurbin oh, PhD requirement. hmm
23:46 shauna It's also just a list of things you should be.  Have a PhD!  Be a strong programmer!  Be familiar with databases!  There's only a few short bits about what you're expected to *do*.
23:47 shauna When I look at adverts, though it's usually just academic for me (heh), I look for things I'll be expected to do.
23:47 pdurbin shauna: that's good feedback
23:47 shauna Do I know how to do them?  Are those things I could concievably learn to do with some help?
23:47 shauna If yes, I'd consider applying.
23:47 shauna But too often it's just "a degree" or "4 years experience" or "work with databases" and I just have no idea whether my skills and abilities measure up.
23:48 shauna And - and this probably has a lot to do with my gender socialization - if there's a chance I won't measure up, I wouldn't apply.
23:48 pdurbin the job sounds less scary when you're in a room chatting about it. I think it will be fun/interesting and I look forward to working with the person some day
23:49 shauna But you have to get in the room.  :)
23:49 shauna Anyway, bbiab, dinner.
23:49 pdurbin shauna: well, if you tell me someone is good, I'll send the resume along
