21:24 dunn hello there, I would like to start development with Dataverse for our University. Firstly, i would like to load it to in IDE, the page i found is http://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/developers/index.html - Can you please point me to the best possible page to get this kind of instruction for developer? Thank you!

22:15 pdurbin_m dunn: hi!
22:22 pdurbin dunn: thanks for stopping by! Did you find the information about Netbeans? That's the IDE most of us use.

22:55 dunn hi pdurbin_m, is this the one http://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/developers/dev-environment.html ?
22:55 pdurbin dunn: yep!
22:56 pdurbin are you on Linux, Mac, or Windows?
22:57 dunn i prefer to code on Windows, but it seems to be issue on Windows from what I read.
22:57 pdurbin dunn: well, sort of but hold, please. there's a guy on Windows who wrote something up
22:57 dunn i am new to this project at the University of Calgary so i hope to get the easiest way to quickly get to coding.
22:58 dunn i read: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/dataverse-community/QpyVa5ENfpw
22:58 pdurbin dunn: https://github.com/akio-sone/windows-tools-for-dataverse_4_or_later/blob/master/windows-installer.md may help people trying to develop on Windows
23:00 dunn ok i will go from there. Thanks so much for your time. Is there anything you want to advise me?
23:01 pdurbin from what I understand, he develops on Windows but deploys to a Linux virtual machine running within VirtualBox (using Vagrant)
23:02 pdurbin dunn: I can probably pull him in here if that would be helpful :)
23:02 dunn yes, i think so too, develop and test on windows and production is on Linux Ubuntu.
23:03 dunn no, this is good enough for me to start. Thanks! Dont want to interrupt too much of your time.
23:03 pdurbin we run RHEL/CentOS in production rather than Ubuntu
23:03 dunn thanks pdurbin.
23:03 pdurbin dunn: you're quite welcome :)
23:03 dunn ok, i notice that.
23:03 dunn bye!
