14:58 bjonnh good for dataverse
14:58 bjonnh I'm pushing the lab people to stop publishing in SI for ACS journals and put everything in dataverse instead
15:01 pdurbin bjonnh: good for all of open science, I guess :)
15:01 bjonnh yes
15:04 tomk-dv Is compatibility with payara.fish a planned goal?
15:10 pdurbin tomk-dv: excellent question! We did get Dataverse working on Payara a while back: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2628#issuecomment-158129836
15:11 tomk-dv Yes I saw that but it was a while back :)

15:23 pdurbin it's cool to see Payara collaborating with others (interestingly, not Oracle) on this new MicroProfile thing: http://www.tomitribe.com/blog/2016/06/microprofile/ Red Hat is involved too.
15:23 pdurbin bmckinney84: had you see this?

15:36 pdurbin tomk-dv: I was saying to pameyer and bmckinney84 yesterday that you *seem* to be intersted in hosting largish datasets.
15:36 tomk-dv very much so
15:37 pdurbin tomk-dv: does https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3145 seem like what you want at all? rsync support?
15:38 tomk-dv Not exactly… is there perhaps a recurring call I could join? Or skype into your next meeting?
15:43 tomk-dv I think by doing a screenshare showing what we do now might spark better ideas
15:51 pdurbin tomk-dv: yep, you could call in: http://dataverse.org/community-calls
15:51 tomk-dv Not sure how I could screenshare for that :P
15:51 tomk-dv hold my phone up to the monitor? :)
15:52 pdurbin tomk-dv: we used a screen sharing solution in https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RyyJR8xxSSqtQ62GJ6_tlhdwE2IlM2fxa86WelAB6Tg/edit

16:34 tomk-dv Apache is being super weird. If I run it with 'sudo httpd', it works, if I do 'sudo service httpd start', it doesn't, and the error log isn't helpful
17:18 pdurbin tomk-dv: I often do this: /etc/init.d/httpd start

17:57 pdurbin tomk-dv: hmm. Can you please open an issue about this?

18:35 tomk-dv K
18:36 tomk-dv Trying to figure out how to use native API python app to get listings, of files, datasets, etc, and be able to drill down, sort of like a "dropbox for medical data"
18:39 pdurbin tomk-dv: you might benefit from looking at the SHARE code by jeffspies______ or whoever at https://osf.io/share/?q=*&sort=Relevance
18:40 pdurbin tomk-dv: this seems to be the code: https://github.com/fabianvf/scrapi/blob/master/scrapi/harvesters/harvarddataverse.py
18:40 pdurbin it's linked from https://github.com/CenterForOpenScience/SHARE#harvesters
18:40 tomk-dv It would be so nice if there was something like the dropbox file picker
18:43 pdurbin tomk-dv: it's sounds like maybe you're looking for an alternative UI or something
18:44 tomk-dv I don't think so, it's more like a simpler integration with other sites, similar to how you can add a dropbox api key to dataverse then use the file picker to pick a file to upload to dataverse
18:44 tomk-dv well what if your data is stored in dataverse and you want to use it elsewhere, like, you have a FastQ in dataverse and want to import it into Galaxy for processing, then put the processed results back in Dataverse
18:45 pdurbin I see. Dropbox offers a picker, which Dataverse uses. It would be nice if *Dataverse* offered a similar picker that other apps could use.
18:46 pdurbin The Dropbox picker is some Javascript we embed. I guess you mean something like that.

18:52 pdurbin tomk-dv: if I'm understanding you
18:55 tomk-dv Yes, precisely
18:56 pdurbin tomk-dv: it's not a bad idea. You could open an issue and I could flag is as a suggestion.
18:59 tomk-dv pdurbin: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3194
19:00 pdurbin tomk-dv: thanks. I added the "suggestion" label
19:03 tomk-dv pdurbin: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/settings/hooks/new?service=irc considered something like this?
19:21 pdurbin tomk-dv: so that commits show up in this channel or something? meh
19:22 tomk-dv Was thinking more for issue updates

22:38 pdurbin tomk-dv: bah! Please feel free to open an issue for that too!
22:46 pdurbin I assume it's coming from here: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/blob/v4.4/doc/sphinx_bootstrap_theme/bootstrap/layout.html#L136
22:46 tomk-dv pdurbin: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/3195 I _believe_ I fixed it, however this is one of those weird ones where it's almost impossible to test
22:46 tomk-dv Yes
22:46 tomk-dv It affects older guides too: http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.3.1/
22:55 pdurbin tomk-dv: thanks!!
22:55 tomk-dv Very strange that Travis builds the java app when just updating the docs, is there a way to make it _only_ test Sphinx if it's a docs-only commit?
23:04 tomk-dv Could not find a method to do it (perhaps a travis.yml flag), contacted @travisci. https://twitter.com/metadatabobeta/status/749015790398021636 - will report back if I get a good answer

23:22 bshambaugh @pdurbin I thought about you yesterday when you were at Harvard, and remembered our IRC chat awhile ago.
23:22 bshambaugh when I was at Harvard
23:25 bshambaugh I see you have a call next Tuesday. My stuff might be orthogonal? In any case it is data for aerospace applications. It is probably closest to Islandora because we are connecting Drupal and Marmotta based on the Linked Data Platform Standard.
23:27 bshambaugh Presentation at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLqvnFRiP24
23:28 bshambaugh If anything, maybe I can drag you out for coffee or lunch next time I am in Cambridge. At least it could be fun.
23:46 pdurbin bshambaugh: hi! Yes, let's do lunch sometime
23:47 pdurbin tomk-dv: we don't have Travis set up to build the Sphinx docs. Please do let us know what you find out.
23:48 pdurbin bshambaugh: are you coming to http://projects.iq.harvard.edu/dcm2016 ? It's soon and free. :)
