12:49 donsizemore @pdurbin morning! yes, the rapache/centos7 rpm worked well at odum, though i've blown the DB away several times now iteratively testing migrations
12:49 donsizemore @pdurbin so you'll have to take my word for it
12:51 pdurbin donsizemore: nice! Thanks! All I did was install it, as I said at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3208#issuecomment-234242275 :)
12:54 pdurbin donsizemore: any interest in testing some beta code that addresses https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2419 and https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3153 ?
12:59 donsizemore @pdurbin: heh. we're currently cleaning out our duplicate users/e-mails from our 3.6 database in preparation for migration, but sure =)
13:00 pdurbin donsizemore: I went ahead and deployed it to https://shibtest.dataverse.org
13:01 pdurbin it's running https://github.com/pdurbin/dataverse/commit/bb787bd
13:06 pdurbin donsizemore: right now it's configured for "three strikes and you're out". There are some test users at https://github.com/pdurbin/dataverse/blob/bb787bd35cacd11d6448abf979aea3d215e72397/scripts/search/users.tsv (username and password are the same)
13:06 donsizemore @pdurbin do you think 3 will be enough for everyman? =)
13:07 pdurbin http://policy.security.harvard.edu/sb2-password-guessing says 10 strikes and you're out but that feels like too much for me. What do you think?
13:07 pdurbin (You have to click "How to Comply".)
13:09 donsizemore @pdurbin: 3 is probably safest. shib users will need to handle passwds with their IdP anyway
13:10 pdurbin You think 3 is ok as a default? Or is that too strict? I could make it 9999999999 by default to effectively disable the feature by default. :)
13:19 pdurbin donsizemore: I also added API endpoints for superusers to lock and unlock accounts
13:20 pdurbin locking an account prevents users from logging in until 9999 :)
13:20 pdurbin effectively indefinitely
13:21 pdurbin this is different than an account being locked out due to bad passwords... the account is only locked out for 60 minutes by default
