14:29 donsizemore just curious if anyone has a preference in log format (Oracle vs. Sun)
14:30 donsizemore i'm adding it as a config option to the dataverse-ansible repo and may set the default back to the 3.6-style ULF
14:36 pdurbin donsizemore: you're saying the log format of server.log changed from DVN 3.x (Glassfish 3) to Dataverse 4 (Glassfish 4)?
14:36 donsizemore Akio prefers ULF to OLF
14:37 pdurbin what does the U stand for?
14:37 donsizemore uniform
14:38 pdurbin huh, so the default for glassfish 3 was ULF and the default for glassfish 4 is OLF?
14:39 donsizemore yes, according to akio. i haven't looked into it much, but the ULF does appear a little cleaner
14:39 pdurbin this is all news to me. I hadn't even heard of either format
14:40 donsizemore major props to whoever coded in "Behold! I am the Master Timer, king of all timers!"
14:40 donsizemore though i submit that as the mother timer she should be made queen
14:41 pdurbin looks like it was added in https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/commit/ff40b06c4e7c1bd7c57bb3505ec0412332bdd0a6

14:42 pdurbin donsizemore: hey did you see the feedback at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/3211 on August 4th?
14:44 pdurbin nicholas_: did you see my question yesterday? http://irclog.iq.harvard.edu/dataverse/2016-09-06#i_40797
14:44 donsizemore @pdurbin no, i missed it or otherwise overlooked it. i don't have a preference, whatever works =) i mostly wanted to document all those dependencies
14:44 pdurbin donsizemore: would you be able to fix up that pull request?
14:45 donsizemore sure, but as of the 4.5 release the current version of preprocess.R wasn't included in the warfile
14:46 pdurbin that doesn't mean much to me, but ok
14:46 pdurbin I don't think the pull request is mergeable as is. Something about how it references the "develop" branch and shouldn't. That's what the feedback is about.
14:46 donsizemore i can follow up on that. i also would like to suggest that the 4.5 upgrade instructions make a more prominent note about the new timer settings, would i better ask that via github or on my support ticket?
14:48 pdurbin Well, if there's an issue with the release notes I guess it should be a GitHub issue.
14:48 pdurbin djbrooke: right?
14:50 pdurbin donsizemore: for now, please go ahead and open a GitHub issue.
14:50 pdurbin I suspect djbrooke may be on a bus from our office to pameyer's.
14:50 pdurbin rsync demo today
14:51 pdurbin https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3145
14:54 djbrooke Hi @donsizemore - please create a ticket, yes - we'll update that documentation as part of the next release
14:58 pdurbin ticket, issue, whatever :)
15:03 djbrooke Heh, so I actually meant issue
15:04 djbrooke It worked perfectly!
15:06 pdurbin donsizemore: thanks for opening this: 4.5 requires timers, add to upgrade instructions · Issue #3336 · IQSS/dataverse · GitHub - https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3336
15:06 pdurbin djbrooke: shall we add the 4.5.1 milestone?
15:07 djbrooke just did
15:07 pdurbin thanks
15:08 pdurbin ok, I'm walking over to HMS

19:07 pdurbin pameyer: back! :)
19:08 pameyer pdurbin: nicholas_ was looking for you :)
19:09 pdurbin nicholas_: you're absolutely welcome to join the Google Hangout (tomorrow morning) *but* we're only going to touch on that pull request briefly because the work has been deferred until Dataverse 5.0: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/3227#issuecomment-244444517
19:19 pdurbin djbrooke: it looks like donsizemore fixed up https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/3211 so I put it in Code Review and left a comment. Can we add the 4.5.1 milestone?
19:38 djbrooke joined #dataverse
19:48 nicholas_ pdurbin: I understand. We're going to try running our Dataverse instances with up-to-date code from 4.x versions plus our 2FA code while we figure out how to incorporate the 2FA code into the codebase.
