12:51 pdurbin donsizemore: morning. I added the label "Persona: Sysadmin" to https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/1934 and I hope that makes sense. :)
12:52 pdurbin donsizemore: I flagged two of the issues you have open as "Persona: Curator" and the other as "Persona: Depositor" https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/created_by/donsizemore
12:53 donsizemore @pdurbin and you all are cool with me proposing that the user create the desired DB (I'll include an example SQL snippet)? then the installer modifications are simple
12:53 pdurbin bjonnh: I flagged one of yours as "Persona: Depositor" and the other as "Persona: Downloader": https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/created_by/bjonnh
12:56 pdurbin donsizemore: you want to load up a SQL dump like this? https://github.com/pdurbin/dataverse-osx-playbook/blob/d8d727befdaba653dfa04a97b9e8730f8b504779/tasks/postgres.yml#L191
12:58 donsizemore @pdurbin just a few lines to create the db, user, set password and permissions for anyone not comfortable doing it him- or herself
12:58 donsizemore (or they-selves, i suppose. too cis-normative)
12:59 pdurbin donsizemore: oh, I thought you were saying that you don't like how Glassfish creates the tables. And that you don't like our reference_data.sql script.
13:01 donsizemore @pdurbin wait, isn't the script su-ing to postgres to create the DB? if not, the script doesn't need to be run as root at all.
13:01 donsizemore @pdurbin i'll check into it once i dig my way out of two other problems that popped up
13:02 pdurbin donsizemore: in the the Installation Guide we say that you don't have to run the installer as root. If that's wrong, it's a bug in our docs.
13:02 pdurbin s/the the/the/
13:02 donsizemore @pdurbin good deal.
13:03 pdurbin donsizemore: no rush. I put "Mentor: pdurbin" on #1934 so I'm trying to be a good mentor. :)
13:16 donsizemore @pdurbin i'm trying to zero in on all the things that will and won't respond on this test server. i don't like problems i can't identify =(
13:18 pdurbin respond? ports are closed?

13:50 donsizemore @pdurbin jon had a better idea. revert our test server to 4.5 to match production (i had been testing step upgrades on it). should reproduce the harvesting problems with production, and will start a clean slate for repeated, methodical upgrades

14:28 pdurbin donsizemore: I didn't know you're having harvesting problems. :(
