14:57 donsizemore @pdurbin knock knock (mr. shib)

15:00 pdurbin donsizemore: good morning. First, please check this out. You're not the only one who likes the new "persona" labels: https://twitter.com/aecoppock/status/885507430041440262 :)
15:11 donsizemore i heartily approve!
15:14 donsizemore @pdurbin so, a guy from WCU wants to swap metadata and he sent me ADFS metadata. before I even pester Jan, are you aware of any other institution running Dataverse and federating with ADFS for shib?
15:41 jhand joined #dataverse
15:50 pdurbin donsizemore: I'm afraid that this is all I've got on ADFS: https://github.com/IQSS/dvn/wiki/configuring-ADFS-relying-party
15:52 donsizemore @pdurbin i can send you the XML he sent me (if you'd like it for reference?) but I suspect I'll be running this by Jan and possibly (but hopefully not) telling the gentleman no.
15:56 pdurbin donsizemore: I don't particularly want the ADFS XML personally. I have enough XML in my life. Did that wiki page help at all? I'm asking because a long long time ago I did get Shibboleth working with the ADFS setup of the guy who created that wiki page.
15:57 pdurbin donsizemore: you could try asking in ##shibboleth too
16:19 donsizemore @pdurbin thank you!
16:23 pdurbin oh sure

21:10 dataverse-user Hello!
21:10 pameyer hi dataverse-user
21:11 dataverse-user I support a federal government research organization that produces data and tools.
21:11 dataverse-user And I've been asked to look into the submission requirements and whether there are any costs involved.
21:11 dataverse-user They have several projects that reach maturity each year or two.
21:13 pameyer It sounds to me like your question is related to depositing data in https://dataverse.harvard.edu (rather than installing the dataverse software and hosting a server your group) - is this correct?
21:14 dataverse-user Correct. they wish to provide data and tools as part of the previous President's Open Data Policy Initiative
21:15 dataverse-user Are there costs to hosting the data (and tools)?
21:15 dataverse-user What are the submission/approval requirements?
21:15 dataverse-user ah. That's link to more info?
21:16 pameyer some institutions install the dataverse software at their own sites (it's free and open source from https://github.com/iqss/dataverse) - but that's the Harvard Dataverse
21:17 pameyer I'd don't know the answers to your questions about costs and submission/approval requirements - but support@dataverse.harvard.edu should
21:17 dataverse-user The link just sent was "Page not found"
21:17 pameyer sorry - probably typos on my part
21:17 pameyer hang on a few
21:17 dataverse-user OK. Thanks.  I will ask. Is it on GitHub or uses GitHub?
21:18 pameyer https://dataverse.harvard.edu/ is the URL for Harvard Dataverse
21:18 pameyer data isn't stored on GitHub; but software development happens there
21:19 pameyer support@dataverse.org is the "typo-free" support email
21:19 pameyer does that help?
21:38 pdurbin pameyer: you're helping me. Thanks! :)
21:38 pameyer no problem :)
21:39 pdurbin There are actually three installations of Dataverse around the world that let anyone create an account.
21:41 pdurbin I believe I last wrote about this at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/HqnMk1RzNzo/UoHD1yEwAAAJ
21:42 pameyer I hadn't known that - but you keep closer watch on the map than I do
21:42 pdurbin I'm not sure if the map reveals this very well.
21:43 donsizemore joined #dataverse
21:44 pdurbin I'd like there to be an API to hit to get a list of all the installations of Dataverse. I wrote about this here: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/ybGAz3y3Cws/G69Fz6fhAgAJ
21:45 pdurbin They're already in a database. That's what powers the map. You can't get a list via API though.
21:45 pameyer sounds like my recurring theme of "I should put any db query I do regularly into an API because somebody else might want to do it to"
21:46 pdurbin yeah
21:53 dataverse-user THank you!
21:53 dataverse-user Thank you!
21:53 pameyer @dataverse-user - You're welcome!
21:56 pdurbin :)
