Hello, I'm trying to test a local installation of Dataverse and I'm getting the following error when trying to publish a dataset:
19:43
rebecabarros
Error – This dataset may not be published because the EZID Service is currently inaccessible.

I found some threads mention the fqdn option in domain.xml, how should this be set?
19:45
rebecabarros
here is set like: <jvm-options>-Ddataverse.fqdn=localhost</jvm-options>
19:50
pdurbin
rebecabarros: hi!
19:51
pdurbin
DataCite won't accept "localhost". One sec.
19:52
pdurbin
rebecabarros: it's actually "dataverse.siteUrl" that you need to change.
19:53
rebecabarros
what should I put in this?
19:53
pdurbin
Does your domain.xml already have a line for dataverse.siteUrl?
19:55
rebecabarros
No. But I tried with: <jvm-options>-Ddataverse.siteUrl=http://${dataverse.fqdn}:8080</jvm-options> and still got the error
19:56
pdurbin
let me know you what I have on one of my servers
19:56
pdurbin
<jvm-options>-Ddataverse.siteUrl=http://phoenix.dataverse.org </jvm-options>
19:57
pdurbin
Can you please try something like that? A non-localhost address?
19:58
rebecabarros
Yes, should I try this one? phoenix.dataverse?
19:58
pdurbin
Ideally, you would use a hostname that you control.
19:59
pdurbin
The purpose of this "siteUrl" setting is that it's the public URL of the installation of Dataverse when you launch.
19:59
pdurbin
or for now, the url of your test installation

So, I set: <jvm-options>-Ddataverse.fqdn=localhost</jvm-options> <jvm-options>-Ddataverse.siteUrl=http://myserverip:8080 </jvm-options> still getting the same error

rebecabarros: instead of "http://myserverip:8080 " can you use the URL of your server?
20:20
rebecabarros
I do not have a valid URL for my server. for now I'm trying to test only local
20:20
pdurbin
rebecabarros: I see. One sec. Sorry.
20:22
rebecabarros
Don't worry and thanks for all the help
20:25
pdurbin
rebecabarros: I'm doing 20 things at once.
20:26
pdurbin
rebecabarros: as a quick experiment, can you please try setting it to a URL that doesn't exist such as "http://myserverip.dataverse.org:8080 "?
20:28
rebecabarros
I will have to go now, but I saw that was you that answer me in the forum. I will formulate better the question and provide details of my configuration tomorrow. Thank you very much for answer it. And I will try this option and let you know.
20:29
pdurbin
rebecabarros: ok, sorry I couldn't be of more help. Let me give you one more link if it helps.

document how devs can work on DataCite as DOI provider #3845 · IQSS/dataverse a73d3a0 - https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/commit/a73d3a055822bc5c6da363d8374589089dd2dee6#diff-9a71e4ad2b6588d034c8e150ff95f908

I kind of doubt that will help but there it is.

I ran into this myself while trying to use DataCite rather than EZID for the first time.
