11:41 soU Hello there, instead of direct access of data i want to put terms of use in the middle for api call, eg this will allow me to download the file directly https://dataverse.harvard.edu/api/access/datafile/3101963 what i am looking for is to redirect to the terms of use instead. In our case when i use the download button it prompt me with the "terms of use" but via api it directly download the file

12:35 pdurbin soU: I have to run to my third grader's class breakfast but please look at (and perhaps comment on) this bug, which I believe you are suffering from: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2911
13:08 soU pdurbin: exactly that's my issue too. in-fact in #2911 and #3331 the concern is more of the download count but it in-line with mine
13:10 jri joined #dataverse
14:03 pdurbin soU: can you please leave comments on both issues?
14:05 soU sure i'll, btw do you think there is a work round as a temporary solution for this?
14:06 pdurbin I can't think of a workaround, unfortunately.
14:09 soU ok,in case if you come up with one leave me a message. thanks!
14:47 pdurbin soU: I certainly will
15:00 pdurbin soU: do you think accepting terms of use (or filling out a guestbook) should only be possible from the Dataverse web interface? Now and then I dream of making *all* functionality in Dataverse available via API. That's why I opened https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3440
15:15 soU pdurbin:I don't think it should be only from the web interface, this is the reason we are facing this issue. instead it would be better the guestbook and accepting terms of use can be done through some arguments for the api. I agree with #3440

15:42 soU pdrubin: when does ApiTermsOfUse appear? http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.0/installation/installation-main.html
16:01 pdurbin soU: it only appears in the SWORD "service document" http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.8.5/api/sword.html#retrieve-sword-service-document . Kind of weird. It should probably be available via the "native" API (in JSON format rather than XML) somewhere.
16:05 pdurbin maybe it should go in the "info" endpoint or something: http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.8.5/api/native-api.html#info
16:19 soU yes! that would be good
16:26 soU as you said this is only for the SWORD https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/1718
16:29 pdurbin soU: yeah, if you'd like it to be added to the native API, please go ahead and create an issue. It shoudl be easy. I could even help you make a pull request if you want.

16:36 soU please make the necessary correction https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/4431
16:45 pdurbin soU: looks good. I just left a comment. Please read it over and if you decided you'd like to try creating a pull request, please let me know (or leave a comment) and we can assign the issue to you.
16:54 soU its a bit late here, will check it tomorrow and let you know, thank you!!
16:59 pdurbin soU: no rush. Thanks for creating that issue. It's something that's been bugging me.
18:07 knikolla pdurbin: you have to separately register each instance of dataverse as a service provider with BU.
18:07 knikolla pdurbin: o/
18:09 pdurbin knikolla: who me? Does BU have a website that describes what to do?
18:13 knikolla pdurbin: https://www.bu.edu/tech/services/security/iam/authentication/shibboleth/
18:14 knikolla pdurbin: the "submit a service request" is conveniently protected by a BU login.

18:16 knikolla pdurbin: you can email ithelp@bu.edu with the request.

20:37 ferrys pdurbin: I'd imagine Kristi is more qualified to make the request from the looks of the form
20:38 pdurbin ferrys: ah, you have access to see the form? As knikolla mentioned, it's hidden behind a BU login. :)
20:38 ferrys pdurbin: I do have access! One thing my BU login actually works for! :)
20:39 pdurbin ferrys: how does BU's form compare to Harvard's? Harvard's is at http://iam.harvard.edu/files/iam/files/shib-appintake-form-june14.pdf via https://iam.harvard.edu/resources/saml-shibboleth-integration
20:42 ferrys pdurbin: similar, but a little simpler. I don't have any technical contacts!

20:49 Thalia_UM Hello Philip
20:49 pdurbin hi Thalia_UM
20:49 Thalia_UM I have a question
20:51 Thalia_UM It is about the structure of the sections in the page of  dataset.xhtml when it says / Files / Metadata / Versions / Terms
20:52 Thalia_UM i want to change it, the order, e.g. /Metadata/Files/Terms/Versions
20:53 Thalia_UM but when I change the positions, in the versions section don't show me the list of versions, it leaves it null or empty
20:54 Thalia_UM The reason may be for an array?
20:59 pdurbin Thalia_UM: I'm sorry, I'm not very good at the xhtml side. Can you please send an email to this list? https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/dataverse-dev . I actually have to run. I'm coaching my daughter's basketball team tonight.
21:01 Thalia_UM Don't worry Philip, thanks :)
21:08 pdurbin Thanks for posting https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-dev/zkfZ-4YciQ0/PfDglSPsAgAJ Thalia_UM. Really leaving now. :)
21:09 Thalia_UM Good luck
