pameyer: thanks for chatting. Here's the "future work" section I mentioned: http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.9.1/developers/testing.html#future-work

@pameyer update: my 403 concerns were me expecting too much out of lighttpd. direct calls to say sr.py return; lighttpd apparently requires configuration to use index.html as a default page.
14:57
donsizemore
@pameyer now i'm getting 404s from datacite (dataverse 4.8.6, https://doi.org/10.5072/FK2/HVOP3L for example, which may well be expected behavior). so i'll have to test the DCM against our production dataverse?

@donsizemore : I'm relieved to hear about the 403's; might not be a bad idea for me to add a status endpoint (or enable index) just so folks know stuff is working
14:59
donsizemore
@pameyer and just like that, datacite stops returning 404s

Principle of Maximum Embarrassment

I went looking for a datacite status endpoint the other day; gave up before I found one
15:00
donsizemore
@pameyer may i then ask about a proper persistent ID incantation? i was blaming datacite due to 404s
15:00
pameyer
@donsizemore I'm not exactly sure when https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/4761 was introduced, but develop was broken
15:01
pameyer
let me check to see a known-good version for DCM usage
15:01
donsizemore
@pameyer and now i'm getting my rsync script! you're a magician!
15:01
pameyer
:) success!
15:02
pameyer
… which also makes 4.8.6 a working version before 4761 ;)

donsizemore: what's that about DataCite? Fixed?
15:08
donsizemore
i thought for a minute that datacite may not return for 10.5072/fk2 dois, because clicking the link in my test dataverse citation block sent me to a datacite 404
15:08
donsizemore
then magically the 404s went away and i was redirected to my test dataset
15:09
pdurbin
On my laptop I'm still getting "java.lang.RuntimeException: Response code: 404"

may i only run the script once against a dataset? HVOP3L checksums verified handle error - duplicate upload id HVOP3L problem moving data; bailing out
15:14
pameyer
it's roughly once per dataset; but not exactly
15:15
pameyer
the transfer script can be run multiple times, but once the checksums have been verified server-side (scn/post_upload), then running the transfer script additional times should fail
15:16
pameyer
if you're seeing the "duplicate upload id" for a single run of checksum verification checking, then it's likely a bug in the DCM (which I'd *thought* I'd fixed)
15:18

i used the 0.1-1 rpm; i'm happy to rebuild another?

Do I need special permission to use content from the Harvard Dataverse Policies with proper citation, if I'm not using Dataverse?
15:53

dataverse-user: datasets have "terms of use" and "terms of access". Each dataset can have custom terms.

@donsizemore - dcm-0.1-1.noarch.rpm from github appears to be working normally for me. could you let me know a little more about how you're seeing the duplicate upload id message? (when/if you've got the chance)
18:55
donsizemore
if it's once per dataset it's user error, pure and simple
18:57
pameyer
I'm always aware of the probability of documentation failures too (especially since I wrote the documentation)

@pdurbin i noticed vagrant up was busticated a week or two ago but i thought it was due to the datacite formatting changes or something
