13:08 pdurbin I made a map of Dataverse installations around the world using WorldMap by clicking the "Configure" button then "Map" from our demo Dataverse installation: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-installations/issues/5 (to see the map)
13:09 poikilotherm Heh. "We should write a script to convert the JSON into a TSV or CSV file. (I prefer TSV.)"
13:09 poikilotherm I am doing the opposite for custom metadata :-D
13:13 pdurbin Yeah, I do the opposite (TSV to JSON) at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/blob/v4.15/scripts/search/populate-users
13:13 pdurbin But do you like my map? Or do you prefer the one on Google Maps? (The one at https://dataverse.org ) :)
13:14 pdurbin andrewSC bricas_ donsizemore jri juancorr: all your installations are on it. :) ^^
13:24 poikilotherm I personally think both are too crowded
13:25 poikilotherm The instances in US and Europe are in both very near next to each other
13:25 poikilotherm It would be nice to have summaries that expand on zoom in
13:26 poikilotherm Like they are doing here: https://www.de-rse.org/en/map.html
13:27 poikilotherm And did you move the view? Europe and US have been cutted off in your map
13:27 poikilotherm It definitly is pretty neat that you can cite the data :-D
13:27 poikilotherm It makes it much more Dataversish than the Google Maps map
13:28 poikilotherm More look'n'fell of research data management ;-)
13:30 poikilotherm Ah it does not allow to zoom out more :-/
13:30 poikilotherm http://worldmap.harvard.edu/data/geonode:installatio
13:31 poikilotherm Hmm the Google map offers clickable details. Is this possible with WorldMap?
13:31 pdurbin Yeah, I'm planning on stopping by the office of the WorldMap guy to chat about a few little bugs like that. Please keep the feedback coming. :)
13:33 pdurbin I like the "Stamen Watercolor" look but I can't get it to carry over to Dataverse. It only seems to be available on the WorldMap side (using the green button at the top left of the map).
13:34 pdurbin I like that you can download the data as GeoJSON and other formats.
13:34 poikilotherm Yeah that's pretty neat
14:39 pdurbin Hmm, he isn't in. Or at least his door is closed and the light is off.
