One more thing, should I include in this iteration the the information that by default API endpoints are accessible by localhost-only (and that permissions may be more loose in dev installations) or should this be added later?

j-n-c: I hate to do this to you but I've been trying to standardize on hyphens rather than underscores in ref's. Do you mind changing this? And if you want, you could update devolpers/documentation.rst to mention the hyphen thing. If this is too much work (and you allow maintainers to push to your branch), I can do it.
