hello all...I am trying to bring up the dataverse vagrantfile locally. It runs through the ansible script for quite a while and then fails on "enable dataverse-previewers" with the error: ["/bin/sh: /home/vagrant/.ansible/tmp.ansible-tmp-1569909218.13-39917473850380/dataverse-previewers.sh: /bin/sh^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
06:13
nightowl
any idea where I can look to fix? The referenced file doesn't exist
06:16
nightowl
there are 2 files in that location, both with different format (ie: ansible-tmp-1569909051.05-69032049181970)
06:19
nightowl
this is from dataverse-ansible
06:25
nightowl
well I see this in the Tools section of the guide: "On Windows if you see an error like /usr/bin/perl^M: bad interpreter you might need to run dos2unix on the installation scripts."
06:25
nightowl
so will try that

There's a .gitattributes setting I've been meaning to ask Windows users to try. * text=auto via https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3927#issuecomment-378957470

morning pdurbin :-)

morning

pdurbin is it ok to talk about details from the meeting yesterday here? I saw Alejandra joined yesterday, so maybe we can coordinate here?
10:37
pdurbin
Gerardo joined too and requested access to the "who's who" spreadsheet in the topic. So let's wait for them to arrive. :)
10:39
poikilotherm
Cool!
10:39
poikilotherm
I would be glad to have them here
10:39
poikilotherm
They are in Mexico City, right?
10:40
poikilotherm
(Asking because timezones :-D )

I think they're all in roughly that timezone. It sounds liked they aren't all in the same office.
10:52
poikilotherm
Should we add a UTC -+X column to the who's hwo?
10:52
pdurbin
Yes, please add whatever makes sense.

Oi pdurbin you like playing with maps, don't you?
11:01
poikilotherm
What about creating a who's who map and add local times like https://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/
11:05
pdurbin
Sure, lately I've been thinking of using openstreetmaps and leaflet.
11:06
pdurbin
Ah, you put "UTC (non-summer)". Ok. I wasn't sure of a good way to capture the data.
11:07
pdurbin
Oh, there's another spreasheet about people you can hack on if you want. "We maintain a list of community contributors" at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/blob/develop/CONTRIBUTING.md#codepull-requests
11:08
poikilotherm
https://github.com/dj0001/Leaflet.timezones
11:08
pdurbin
the demo is nice: https://dj0001.github.io/Leaflet.timezones/
11:09
poikilotherm
So it should be possible to use those informations in leaflet
11:10
poikilotherm
I don't know if you saw the map on de-rse.org/en/map.html
11:10
poikilotherm
https://i.imgur.com/SVhyqcD.jpg
11:11
poikilotherm
It would be awesome to have such popups with all that information you have in those different spreadsheets
11:11
poikilotherm
And a clock with the local time
11:11
poikilotherm
Like in the popup they have in the map at timeanddate.com
11:12
poikilotherm
They generate the map from the data in https://github.com/DE-RSE/www/blob/gh-pages/_includes/mapdata.js
11:13
poikilotherm
They are using OpenStreetMap and Leaflet ;-)
11:13
poikilotherm
https://github.com/DE-RSE/www/blob/gh-pages/en/map.md
11:20
pdurbin
Very cool. Yes, it would be nice to have maps about people in the Dataverse community. Opt in, of course.
11:27
pdurbin
The hello world map right on the home page of https://leafletjs.com doesn't look like much code.
13:24

poikilotherm: nice use of the hacktoberfest label: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-kubernetes/labels/hacktoberfest
13:24
poikilotherm
;-)
13:24
poikilotherm
Maybe IQSS can do this for IQSS/dataverse, too?
13:25
pdurbin
Maybe. Do you feel like posting about Hacktoberfest at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/dataverse-community and asking other repos beyond dataverse-kubernetes to join in?
14:12
poikilotherm
pdurbin I just merged a script to deploy the custom metadata scripts in K8s

14:13

'This is about handling upstream changes to "system" metadata blocks'
14:13
pdurbin
what changes are you making to the default metadata blocks?
14:14
pdurbin
and should you be making those changes? :)
14:15
poikilotherm
Nada
14:15
pdurbin
ok :)
14:15
poikilotherm
I just delete the customXXX TSV files from Harvard
14:15
poikilotherm
(as files)
14:16
pdurbin
ah, makes sense
14:16
poikilotherm
;-)
14:16
pdurbin
Have we talked about the sample data repo?
14:16
poikilotherm
A bit.
14:16
poikilotherm
There is an issue about creating a job for it
14:17
poikilotherm
I'm really trying to ship https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-kubernetes/milestone/1 before 4.17 hits me :-D
14:17
pdurbin
I feel like you're working on an equivalent... sample configs... or dare I say... installation personas. Have we talked about installation personas?
14:17
pdurbin
4.17 might hit you today.
14:17
pdurbin
no promises
14:17
poikilotherm
:'-(
14:17
poikilotherm
Nope, we did not talk about personas
14:18
pdurbin
You're crying? You don't want us to ship? :)
14:18
poikilotherm
Although my personas might be technical
14:18
poikilotherm
Shipping is cool. I hoped for my OAuth2 stuff be in 4.17, but ORCID has not yet responded :-/
14:18
poikilotherm
I could not test it yet, as I need a Sandbox API account
14:19
pdurbin
We all want our code merged and shipped. I feel you.
14:19
poikilotherm
What was that about personas?
14:19
pdurbin
please check your email for "Dataverse installation personas poster"
14:19
pdurbin
I'd love to hear what you think. It's a work in progress. And please don't share it yet.
14:20
poikilotherm
Of course.
14:22
poikilotherm
Maybe it's my bad english, but I don't get the point.
14:22
poikilotherm
Do you want me to share some thoughts here or should we keep that private?
14:23
poikilotherm
(As it's a WIP)
14:25
pdurbin
Please see "What if installations had personas?" at https://scholar.harvard.edu/pdurbin/blog/2019/jupyter-notebooks-and-crazy-ideas-for-dataverse
14:26

poikilotherm: and I was serious about the Hacktoberfest post. Do you want to make it? I'll follow up with "great idea!" :)
14:36
poikilotherm
pdurbin: post to group: done.
14:37
poikilotherm
Let's talk about the persona things tomorrow... Approaching 17:00 here...
14:39
