Hello everybody
12:22
Youssef_Ouahalou
I sent two different mail to dataverse_support
12:23
pdurbin
Youssef_Ouahalou: hi! Do you have the ticket numbers?
12:25
Youssef_Ouahalou
yes :)
12:26
Youssef_Ouahalou
first #283518 and second #283520
12:37
pdurbin
Youssef_Ouahalou: thanks! I love all the screenshots!
12:40
pdurbin
Youssef_Ouahalou: for #283520 are you planning on pushing a branch to github?
12:41
pdurbin
Actually, pushing a branch for #283518 would be good too.
12:54
Youssef_Ouahalou
oooh thank you very much
12:54
Youssef_Ouahalou
How should I call them?
12:56
Youssef_Ouahalou
Do you know how to solve problems?
13:02
pdurbin
Youssef_Ouahalou: well, I would call one of them something like "6383-editor" because it seems like you're working on https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/6383
13:03
pdurbin
For the other one (editing citation.tsv) I think you should start by opening a new github issue about the problem, about the "pain point" you have, if that makes sense. Then you can name the branch after the issue.

Morning pdurbin. Hope no one minds that I moved https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/6365 back to QA after fixing.
13:46
pdurbin
poikilotherm: I don't mind. I gave it a thumbs up. If anyone objects, I'll let you know. Thanks for fixing!
13:52
pdurbin
Youssef_Ouahalou: hi! I see https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/6407 but I think I confused you. I was trying to suggest that you could fork Dataverse and push a branch called 6383-editor to your fork. I'm going to bike to work but maybe poikilotherm can explain. :)
13:52
poikilotherm
Ok
13:53
* poikilotherm
goes looking at 6407
13:54
pdurbin
thanks, please look at 6383 too
13:54
Youssef_Ouahalou
alright I'll see that now thank you
13:56
poikilotherm
Youssef_Ouahalou: what pdurbin meant was that any enhancements for Dataverse need to be done by someone. IQSS is open to contributions, but contributing follows some simple rules to ensure everything can be followed by the devs, even when looking at commits in a few years time
13:57
poikilotherm
If you want to contribute a solution for your issue, you opened, you should create a pull request
13:58
poikilotherm
If so, please follow the guide on PRs: http://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/developers/version-control.html#how-to-make-a-pull-request
13:59
poikilotherm
That way people will be able to handle it :-)
14:00
Youssef_Ouahalou
Okay I'll do that thank you :)
14:01
poikilotherm
You're most welcome :-)

We always appreciate new commiters from the community :-)

poikilotherm: we sure do. Thanks for explaining.

Youssef_Ouahalou: any questions?

pdurbin: got a first working version of my OIDC provider...

15:57

Fantastic! I'm looking at the "diff" between that branch and the one in QA: https://github.com/poikilotherm/dataverse/compare/6364-oauth2-abstract...poikilotherm:5974-oidc-impl

donsizemore: good afternoon! I need to go get some lunch but I'm wondering if you're willing to be added to a support ticket about shib stuff. Here is the original conversation: http://irclog.iq.harvard.edu/dataverse/2019-11-22#i_113359 (now a ticket).

@pdurbin in my case at UNC I had to send identity management sp-cert.pem as generated by Shibboleth, then went to go download a .pem from our IDP
18:19
donsizemore
@pdurbin i'm not sure if that's helpful enough to include in the ticket
19:21
pdurbin
donsizemore: I think I'm just going to ask for the Metadata file. It's weird that there's no cert in there.

O ye @pdurbin with your institutional knowledge... do you remember if anyone's done any ingest benchmarking?
22:33
donsizemore
@pdurbin it doesn't have to impress anyone, just has to translate into a graph for a paper
23:26
pdurbin
all I know is that our implementation of ingest for RData isn't especially performant
