Happy St. Nicholas Day
12:01
poikilotherm
:-)

My kiddies were so happy when they found that St. Nicholas put sth in their boots
12:05
pdurbin
This is the first year we've celebrated. My wife grew up with this tradition (both sides of her family are very German). Our kids are very happy too.

I have not looked if St. Nikolaus put sth. in dataversebots boots, too. Maybe he heard that poor bot wishes for a webhook in dataverse-sample-data
12:10
pdurbin
Heh. Sure, I can set that up. Please remind me. Do you want to talk about OIDC (which I brought up after standup yesterday) or getting off Glassfish (I see you commented)?
12:10
poikilotherm
:-D
12:10
poikilotherm
Sure.
12:10
poikilotherm
Both :-D
12:11
poikilotherm
But not much news for OIDC yet
12:17
pdurbin
Well, for OIDC, can you please create a pull request to add a release note? I think you're familiar with this (relatively new) process.
12:18
pdurbin
Something we can copy and paste into the release notes for the next release of Dataverse.
12:20
pdurbin
poikilotherm: in the doc/release-notes directory.
12:20
poikilotherm
Are you guys planing for a new release before 2020?
12:21
poikilotherm
Just asking so I can estimate what to write ;-)
12:21
pdurbin
I never know. We always try to stay "release ready".
12:21
poikilotherm
Okidoki
12:21
poikilotherm
No problem. Issue, too?
12:21
poikilotherm
Or just PR as addendum?
12:21
pdurbin
Please nothing too long. It should be high level. Please look at recent release notes to get an idea.
12:22
poikilotherm
Of course
12:22
poikilotherm
I already wrote some of these :-D
12:22
poikilotherm
(2?)
12:22
pdurbin
Up to you. A PR against the same issue is fine. Or you can make a fresh one. Or you can have it close your epic.
12:22
poikilotherm
Nope, my epic contains more stuff we need ;-)
12:22
poikilotherm
For now this is just basic support
12:22
poikilotherm
But not using all the benefits of an IDM/IAM
12:23
pdurbin
Right. Basic support is huge though, I think.
12:23
pdurbin
Probably deserves to be the top item in the release notes.
12:26
poikilotherm
Should I call it experimental?
12:26
pdurbin
Well, how well tested is it?
12:27
poikilotherm
No automated tests yet, but should be ok
12:28
pdurbin
Not tested at all by QA.
12:30
poikilotherm
Meh
14:38
pdurbin
poikilotherm: meh? :)
15:07
MrK
pdurbin: Hey, do you still have the list with differences between slack competitors?
15:08
pdurbin
MrK: well, I have this "Examples of communities that use the Searchable Linkable Open Public Indexed (SLOPI) communication style" spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wvG3XTd5YwA-SliOUCavQgqfK1jLVnlL9tuUsjHR0Ik/edit#gid=0 . Does that help?
15:10
MrK
Didn't you had something like comparing gitter to slack and other communicators? I remember when we talked about it when you wanted to migrate from IRC .
15:11
pdurbin
MrK: let me look. I do remember something.
15:29
pdurbin
MrK: let's see. This isn't what you asked for but I'd love feedback on this "Dataverse Community Chat Requirements" spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lBm5HYhi0RFbfSYhsl2Is5z35PhOV2h1S8ZGIVoUSj8/edit?usp=sharing :)
15:31
pdurbin
MrK: this is a little more what you're asking for: "SLOPI chat, alternatives to Slack" - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NgPPpzjlzYjcEw0oFe_nNvuxtPXDZs6Z-fa_q42oJkU/edit?usp=sharing
15:31
pdurbin
MrK: are you trying to pick a chat system? Are you considering Gitter?
15:34
MrK
pdurbin: I was just looking around for alternatives, but we probably won't change slack any time soon so just curiosity.
15:39
MrK
thx
15:40
MrK
Oh yeah 1 thing is frustrating me on irc, when you lock your laptop you are logged out of irc, so when you come back you have different nickname. And if someone is writing to you while you lose connection you also won't receive the message.
15:52
pdurbin
Yeah, that's exactly why I run my IRC client (weechat) in a screen session. But I don't expect normal people to do that. :)
21:27
pdurbin
Wow, where does the time go. Getting pretty dark here. Have a good weekend, everybody! See you Monday.
