dataverse-user: I'm sorry, the only supported DOI provides are DataCite and EZID and EZID is only an option in California. Handles are also supported instead of DOIs if that's of interest. If you want, you could create a GitHub issue asking for Crossref support as a DOI provider.

I've read the documentation but I'm confused with the terms of datacite client API . There is an example of an autstralian institute. I was wondering if that was applicable in any way with crossref

dataverse-user: anyway, there's a dream of pluggable DOI providers. Bring your own. Implement your own. But right now a pull request would be required to add a Crossref DOI provider.

dataverse-user: cool. Like poikilotherm is saying, one option is to join DataCite either as an institution or through the GDCC (the GDCC helps provide a discount on DataCite DOIs).
