10:39 Youssef_Ouahalou Hello everyone, when I create a new metadata block and load it into the dataverse and activate it in the metadatafields I have an error when creating a new dataset I do not understand where the error comes from
11:06 stefankasberger joined #dataverse
11:21 Youssef_Ouahalou It's good I find my mistake
11:22 Youssef_Ouahalou I did not know that you had to add a line in the solr shema.xml

12:37 pdurbin Youssef_Ouahalou: good job figuring it out.
12:38 pdurbin poikilotherm: did you want me to create an issue for the release note about OIDC?
12:38 poikilotherm Morning pdurbin
12:38 poikilotherm Not necessarily
12:38 poikilotherm Sry hadn't a chanced yet to push a PR
12:39 poikilotherm Busy morning ;-)
12:46 pdurbin No worries. I think Danny will be back (he was out giving a talk: https://twitter.com/Ryoinformatics/status/1203020333839568897 ) and I was thinking it would be good to have him review and merge whatever you write.

12:52 poikilotherm Sure
13:02 pdurbin xarthisius: thank you so much for continuing to work on https://github.com/jupyterhub/binderhub/pull/969
13:03 pdurbin I still wonder what "Confirm that the repo2docker contentprovider is ready for Dataverse" means. I thought that was what https://github.com/jupyter/repo2docker/pull/739 was about.

13:24 dataverse-user Hi. Could anyone help me to configure dataverse with crossref.org doi provider ?
13:24 poikilotherm Actually I fear this is not possible unless someone provides an implementation for it...
13:25 poikilotherm Also, CrossRef really specializes with their metadata schema on text publications
13:25 pdurbin dataverse-user: I'm sorry, the only supported DOI provides are DataCite and EZID and EZID is only an option in California. Handles are also supported instead of DOIs if that's of interest. If you want, you could create a GitHub issue asking for Crossref support as a DOI provider.
13:25 poikilotherm You really should take a look at Dataverse
13:26 pdurbin Felipe-IIT: are you dataverse-user? Welcome!
13:27 poikilotherm https://www.crossref.org/community/datacite/
13:29 dataverse-user I've read the documentation but I'm confused with the terms of datacite client API. There is an example of an autstralian institute. I was wondering if that was applicable in any way with crossref
13:30 pdurbin dataverse-user: no, that Australian example isn't applicable to Crossref.
13:31 poikilotherm What confuses you about the terms?
13:31 pdurbin poikilotherm: do you know the status of Slava's pluggable DOI provider code? He mentioned in recently in a GitHub comment.
13:31 poikilotherm pdurbin: nope, sry. No idea, never heard of it again since we joined DataCite in July
13:33 poikilotherm pdurbin: proud to be enlisted at https://datacite.org/members.html ;-)
13:33 poikilotherm pdurbin: GDCC is there too, although without logo :-/
13:36 pdurbin I can't find Slava's comment. It was maybe two weeks ago.
13:36 pdurbin dataverse-user: anyway, there's a dream of pluggable DOI providers. Bring your own. Implement your own. But right now a pull request would be required to add a Crossref DOI provider.
13:40 dataverse-user OK. Thank you. I will see if my university is ok to use datacite.
13:40 jri_ joined #dataverse
13:41 pdurbin dataverse-user: cool. Like poikilotherm is saying, one option is to join DataCite either as an institution or through the GDCC (the GDCC helps provide a discount on DataCite DOIs).
13:41 pdurbin dataverse-user: the discount is described here: http://dataversecommunity.global/services
13:41 pdurbin no pressure to join the GDCC though :)
13:43 pdurbin poikilotherm: did you see https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/rCsRC4Vvqjw/tmDu1WZyAwAJ and would you like to respond? Maybe you could talk about the new auth stuff. :)

14:14 poikilotherm Someone mentioned me?
14:14 * poikilotherm goes reading
14:15 poikilotherm Thx for replying
14:44 poikilotherm pdurbin: I just pushed work onto your desk :-P
14:52 xarthisius pdurbin: yeah, I have no idea what Chris meant by that
14:52 xarthisius you've already shown that it works on deployed Binder if you pass DV doi even without those UI changes
14:57 pdurbin xarthisius: yeah. Do you feel like leaving a comment or question?
15:06 pdurbin poikilotherm: thanks, I just left a review: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/6442#pullrequestreview-328985718
15:07 * poikilotherm *thumbs up*
15:08 pdurbin poikilotherm: probably better for you to answer my question in the pull request rather than here but please let me know if I'm being unclear.
15:09 poikilotherm Sure!
15:09 poikilotherm Responded :-)
15:12 poikilotherm He, login_hint looks like a good candidate for a configuration option :-)
15:16 poikilotherm If Philip et al really run a fork just because of this, that really would be a relief ;-)
15:20 pdurbin no kidding
15:35 pdurbin poikilotherm: sounds like they'll look into it: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/4334#issuecomment-563294253
15:35 poikilotherm Nice!
15:44 pdurbin xarthisius: thanks for leaving that comment. I just followed up with another one: https://github.com/jupyterhub/binderhub/pull/969#issuecomment-563298933
15:45 poikilotherm Alright guys, gotta go. Read you tomorrow
15:45 pdurbin xarthisius: Ana and I talked a lot about Whole Tale in that demo, by the way. Unfortunately it wasn't recorded, but there are notes at https://hackmd.io/u2ghJJUCRWK-zRidCFid_Q?view
15:45 pdurbin poikilotherm: thanks for the pull request!
