Hi everyone! :) I just wondered if somebody had a quick answer. The manual says that "Once a user creates a dataverse they, by default, become the administrator of that dataverse." Can I change that default? We only want the curators of the parent dataverse to publish

14:10 jonas
so i'm looking for something like /api/dataverses/$id/defaultContributorRole/$roleAlias for dataverses

14:10 pdurbin
jonas: hi! There's a way to copy over the roles of the parent dataverse. It's called :InheritParentRoleAssignments - http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.20/installation/config.html#inheritparentroleassignments

14:13 jonas
thanks for the quick reply! your link says "same role(s) on the new Dataverse (in addition to the creator of the new Dataverse having an admin role..." - since we don't want to give them the admin role, can we still find a workaround based onm this?

Hi, I have a question: does the Search API needs special configuration? In dataverse.org search API works without passing the API Token, but in our dataverse it doesn't.

Hi Peter, we are on 4.19 here at the WZB and I can use the search api without a key

14:25 pdurbin
jonas: I think it would be best for you to open an issue at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues if you don't mind.

14:26 pkiraly
ours's is also 4.19

14:26 pdurbin
pkiraly: do you have :SearchApiRequiresToken set to true? Please see http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.20/installation/config.html#searchapirequirestoken

14:30 pdurbin
jonas: is your installation on the map yet? :)

14:31 jonas
pdurbin: still restricted to the local network :(

donsizemore: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-ansible/pull/163 has me wondering what we used before postfix.

14:41 donsizemore14
@pdurbin likely sendmail (though the CentOS AWS image we've been using already includes basic postfix)

14:42 pdurbin
ok, thanks

14:42 donsizemore14
@pdurbin it's a bare-bones dealy, but a common hue and cry during testing is "i don't get e-mail notifications"

14:42 pdurbin
How many users do you have now? Seems like a lot.

14:43 donsizemore14
in UNC Dataverse? 1500+ in builtinuser, 2000+ in authenticateduser

14:44 pdurbin
Oh, sorry, I meant users of dataverse-ansible. :)

14:44 donsizemore14
no idea. it's been quietly forked and improved/customized many times

nope, just heard about it through my contacts close to Odum :)

15:39 pdurbin
ok

15:40 pdurbin
I was just asked about DDI in CoReRe

15:43 xarthisius
can't help with that, I only roughly know what they're doing

15:43 pdurbin
no worries :)

16:42 donsizemore14
@xarthisius @pdurbin Andrey started out in Flask then went back to grad school. Matthew rewrote it in Django and has it pulling files from Dataverse but has gotten derailed by another project which may result in a SAS ingest-er for Dataverse

Oh damn, yea that's scary stuff. I'm giong to read this shortly. Our neighbor actually we think is going through a pretty long manic spell but he more or less thinks he's in touch with god and doesn't want to hear anything else...

18:40 pdurbin
How well is he sleeping?

18:42 madunlap
Hmm good question, I don't know. I think ryan has had bipolar episodes for years

18:45 madunlap
I wish he had a better support network, we just moved here a few months ago and we don't think he has many other connections...

18:53 pdurbin
Is there anything we can help you with? We have tech hours in a few minutes.

18:53 madunlap
Oh yeah! I came on to respond to the convo about DDI

18:54 pdurbin
Ok. But maybe you should email it to Tania.

18:55 madunlap
Well all it really is is that we know that CoReRe will be generating metadata as part of its operations, but until the parts are operating we haven't nailed anything specific down.

18:56 pdurbin
ok, you're flexible :)

18:56 madunlap
Our first goal is just to log it in the app, but eventually pieces of it should be in the dataset.

18:56 madunlap
Yea exactly. I've been pulled on to a different short-term project for a few weeks but when I get back to CoReRe I'll think about it more as I'm developing

18:57 madunlap
And there can be discussions as things move forward

18:57 pdurbin
