hello
08:34
Kamil17
Is it possible to search via search API in the same time by some field from datasets and i.e only resources with MP4 extension?
08:35
Kamil17
Now when I try to search in that way, I get independent result of datasets and resources

Example query
08:43
Kamil17
https://demo.dataverse.org/api/search?q=(fileType%3AJPEG+fileType%3AImage)&keywordValue%3Anoexistent
08:43
Kamil17
gives 32 resources but should return none
08:45
Kamil17
the same with that query: https://demo.dataverse.org/api/search?q=(fileType%3AJPEG+fileType%3AImage)&keywordValue%3Acontraception
08:45
Kamil17
should return 2 but returns 32
08:46
Kamil17
I think that resources are unrelated from datasets via search api?

Do you have your new setting on https://data-beta.fz-juelich.de ?
15:30
poikilotherm
Closely following the DataCite General Assembly Meeting
15:30
pdurbin
Because when I click "User Guide" it doesn't seem like your new setting is being used.
15:30

How may I help you :-)

Nope, not yet.

Only on data.fz-juelich.de
15:31
poikilotherm
Shall I push it now? Takes just a few CLI calls :-D
15:31
pdurbin
At https://data.fz-juelich.de all I see is a "Coming Soon!" and a cute animation.
15:32
pdurbin
And a big button called "Take me to BETA!"
15:32
pdurbin
So I don't understand how I can see what you want me to see.
15:32
pdurbin
Does that make sense?
15:33

You should hit F5 then :-D
15:33

Browser cache hitting you
15:33

thanks
15:34

I just pushed it to beta, too, but it will take a few moments to deploy

So small changes, so big impact :-D

Yeah. Depending on the details, it's good to sweat them. :)
15:40

Muahahahaha
15:41
poikilotherm
BTW. is "confirming permissions" a good term?
15:41
poikilotherm
No native speaker here :-D
15:43
pdurbin
sounds fine
15:44
pdurbin
If you want to be more formal, you could say "auditing permissions".
15:47
poikilotherm
OK :-)

More work for you pdurbin :-D https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/6879

Thx!

IIRC those were missing from the doc sections above...
16:27
poikilotherm
Should we add them over there, too?
16:28
poikilotherm
(I copy pasted from the section above about NavbarAboutUrl)
16:39
donsizemore
@poikilotherm so no deployment session
16:40
poikilotherm
Why no deployment session? It's still you, Slava and others to run the session as hosts, isn't it?
16:40
donsizemore
@poikilotherm yes, but curious if you'll be there to talk k8s?
16:41
poikilotherm
I should be able to do that.
16:41
donsizemore
excellent
16:41
poikilotherm
And I have a showcase with our production env :-D
16:42
poikilotherm
I could easily give a webinar on that...
16:42

hi all ... we have researchers who would like to keep dataset files in google drive yet integrate to DV, and wondering what the status of that integration is: I found this: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/4750 ... is this the latest?
16:52
donsizemore
@nightowl313 hello =) going to ask the developer
16:55
nightowl313
hey! Thanks, sorry all of these things are coming up at once now that everyone is testing ... finally
17:12
donsizemore
no answer (late lunch time here)... but i haven't heard of anyone using google drive as a dataverse storage location
17:29
pdurbin
nightowl313: what would the integration with Google Drive look like? Would it be similar to the Dropbox integration, if you're familiar with that?
17:34
pdurbin
There's a large chunk (too big) issue about this at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/1746 that lumps in other options.
17:35
pdurbin
nightowl313: please feel free to create an issue with your use case!
17:38
donsizemore
@pdurbin speaking of issues, do you remember seeing "I was playing with the different roles in dataverse using the data curation tool and there is a glaring issue where data curation tool allows authors to edit files when a record has been submitted for review (where normally dataverse locks the files from being edited by the author)... keeping the button off the UI is the best way to ensure authors aren't messing with files in the middle of
17:38
nightowl313
the hope is that there would be a way to keep the files in google drive and not upload to dv but still have accessible in the dataset
17:39
nightowl313
i saw that issue, but it looked like it was redirected to 4750
17:40
pdurbin
donsizemore: that sounds like an issue pameyer opened
17:41
pdurbin
nightowl313: I see. So what some people have called "remote storage".
17:41
pdurbin
Not stored in Dataverse. The files not stored in Dataverse.
17:42
pdurbin
nightowl313: but what would be stored in Dataverse? A link to the files?
17:45
nightowl313
yea, sorry I don't mean IN DV but as a remote storage option ... in my mind I'm thinking local files and S3 are "in DV" ah
17:45
nightowl313
ha
17:46
pdurbin
There's been a lot of interest in remote storage.
17:46
pdurbin
And you found the Trusted Remote Storage Agent issue. As donsizemore mentioned he works with the developer. I saw a commit go in just today.
17:47
nightowl313
oh really? cool
17:48
pdurbin
Oh, I guess it was yesterday: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/6068/commits
17:49
pdurbin
Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to rattle some cages and find out the status. I'd suggest creating a new issue and telling your story and seeing what happens. At the very least I would expect someone to reply and perhaps link to related issues or current efforts.
17:50
nightowl313
okay, I will do that ... thanks for the update!
17:51

sure :)
17:54

donsizemore: is "Freeze dataset during review" what you're looking for? This (but it's closed): https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3172
18:23
donsizemore
it sounds like it, except those PRs were merged into 4.8?
18:26
pdurbin
donsizemore: honestly, it would probably be best to open a fresh issue.
18:26
donsizemore
i probably will, but i do try to stalk the issue log before doing so
18:26
donsizemore
and i want to test on demo.dataverse.org
18:26
pdurbin
ok
20:32
poikilotherm
Oi pdurbin. Do you think you folks would be ok to allow symlinks in docroot?
20:33
pdurbin
poikilotherm: I'm torn between "I don't see why not" and "why?"
20:33
poikilotherm
I pushing things into it via git-sync, but that uses a symlink internally :-(
20:34
pdurbin
You're trying to mess with our git repo? :)
20:34
poikilotherm
So I cannot serve my customization files from the docroot :'-(
20:34

(the logo...)
20:34
poikilotherm
No no no
20:34
poikilotherm
I have a git repo for the branding
20:34
pdurbin
You can do whatever you want in production. :)
20:34
poikilotherm
And syncing that into the container
20:35
poikilotherm
I'll try setting up routes with NGINX first...
20:35
poikilotherm
Serving the logos via NGINX instead of Glassfish
20:35
pdurbin
ok

pdurbin
Sorry, I'm on a call.

poikilotherm
No worries
21:05
pdurbin
poikilotherm: ok, done, but I'm probably heading out soon.
21:06

I solved via NGINX serving the static content...

21:06
poikilotherm
Oh looks like sth broke favicon :-/
21:07
pdurbin
The logo looks fine. A little fuzzy.
21:08
poikilotherm
Yeah. Scaling.
21:08
poikilotherm
Dataverse has 160x50px
21:09
poikilotherm
Looks like I need to create a custom header to have it displayed in bigger sizes...
21:09
poikilotherm
Or did you mean the dataverse image?
21:09
poikilotherm
Because that one also suffers from details getting fuzzy from downscaling
21:12
pdurbin
I meant this one: https://data-beta.fz-juelich.de/branding/files/dataverse/img/logo.png
21:12
pdurbin
I mean, it's fine. Don't worry about it.
21:13
