09:32 ppeter Die klasse is zum Unterricht bereit.
09:32 ppeter Hello everyone!
09:34 ppeter I just wanted to say that the mystery around shibboleth configuration was solved. The problem was that both dataverse-apache-ssl.yml and dataverse-shibboleth.yml installed the ssl.conf.
09:36 ppeter When I edited the ansible tasks, I edited one of their target directories correctly, and the other incorrectly. Thus two instances were installed into my apache config dirs, and one of them was dominant, and I kept changing the other one. :(
09:36 ppeter I will push the correct version with lots of other updates, and create a pull request.
09:37 ppeter ... later today.

11:27 donsizemore @ppeter that code was included on request, and completely untested
11:28 donsizemore @ppeter IQSS likes small, granular commits, so better to open an issue and tie a PR to it
11:35 ppeter So should I break up my changes to small commits? It makes moderate sense, as Debian support needs almost the whole chengeset

12:32 donsizemore @ppeter yes, IQSS prefers granular commits with a specific purpose
12:34 ppeter Ok, I will try, but it will not be easy to break up and rearrange existing commits.
12:40 donsizemore @ppeter I've done my share of git gymnastics simply to submit a pull request to Dataverse =)

14:05 pdurbin Better than the virtual gym class my kids have these days.
14:06 pdurbin ppeter: so you got it all working? Shib login? Great!
14:07 ppeter Yes, it was all my fault :(
14:07 pdurbin But you fixed it. So now you're a hero. :)

15:12 poikilotherm Ola pdurbin donsizemore... May I ask a dumb question about permissions in Dataverses?
15:13 pdurbin poikilotherm: yes but first I want to show you something
15:13 donsizemore those are the only questions I can answer!
15:13 pdurbin poikilotherm: check this out: https://mathhire.org/jobs/973
15:13 poikilotherm (I might just try this, but it might be quicker to ask you guys, maybe knowing the answer from the top of your heads)
15:14 poikilotherm Oh that looks great pdurbin
15:15 pdurbin tell your friends
15:16 poikilotherm :-D
15:16 poikilotherm Maybe I will give Doro et al a call for reactivating out german speaking network of Dataverse users...
15:17 pdurbin That was a nice pic from your first meeting.
15:20 pdurbin So what's your question?
15:25 poikilotherm I just tweeted about the ad ;-)
15:25 poikilotherm So, my question...
15:26 poikilotherm Is it true that I can grant a group the "Dataset Creator" role and then new datasets will have the user creating it either as a contributor or curator based on the policy I set for the Dataverse?
15:27 poikilotherm (While setting the "who can add" to "needs to be given access")
15:28 pdurbin yep
15:28 pdurbin but you should test it
15:28 pdurbin trust but verify :)
15:29 poikilotherm Great.
15:29 poikilotherm I wasn't sure about that part...
15:30 poikilotherm OK let me add another question
15:30 poikilotherm We want to have a quick and dirty way to create a corporate group for now
15:30 poikilotherm So my idea was to base that on the mail adress.
15:31 poikilotherm Do you think I should create an issue and PR for this, as it might be interesting for others, too?
15:31 pdurbin Would it be a doc change?
15:31 poikilotherm It would be a quick'n'dirty GroupProvider matching on peoples mail domain, obviously catching validated mails only
15:32 poikilotherm No, code.
15:32 poikilotherm Plus docs
15:32 poikilotherm New option to create groups
15:32 pdurbin I'd say write it up as an issue and make it clear that you're willing to make a pull request.
15:36 poikilotherm Okidoki
15:36 poikilotherm I'll create that tomorrow. Done for today.
15:37 * poikilotherm waves at everyone
15:37 * pdurbin waves
15:40 donsizemore @poikilotherm sorry I ran out for a second, but this is what Odum does in general. :authenticated-users gets "Dataverse Creator" and everything else just happens
