13:34 pdurbin donsizemore: I'm checking out https://nevermore.irss.unc.edu/ddi-explorer/?fileId=7507623&siteUrl=https://dataverse.unc.edu after seeing this tweet: https://twitter.com/Odum_Institute/status/1265991616612962305 . Mmm, data. Good stuff.
13:35 donsizemore @pdurbin i'll ask kasha to retweet that with the link that sorts datasets by date
13:35 donsizemore @pdurbin wow, table view works!
13:37 pdurbin table view?
13:39 donsizemore @pdurbin in Data Explorer. that's the first time i've seen it display numbers
13:51 pdurbin Oh. Well, sometimes "Categories" is blank. If the data isn't categorical.
14:16 donsizemore @pdurbin not an "oh, well" -- i'm excited to see it work =)
14:31 pdurbin :)
14:46 poikilotherm pdurbin I started working on #6936 in our fork for now. Left a comment about it https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/6936#issuecomment-635395538
14:49 pdurbin extends PersistedGlobalGroup
14:49 pdurbin interesting
14:50 poikilotherm Using the same as IPGroups
14:50 pdurbin yeah, looks good
14:50 poikilotherm Removing lots of boilerplate ;-)
14:50 poikilotherm Looks like Michael Barsinai wrote lots of this stuff
14:53 pdurbin yeah
15:06 poikilotherm I'm off to work now :-D
15:06 pdurbin enjoy
15:06 poikilotherm Reading y'all on my mobile.

19:46 dataverse-user Hello guys, I hope you're doing well... I have a question, How can I download the result from the "api/admin/metadata/reExportAll" call?
19:46 pdurbin The result?
19:47 dataverse-user I mean ... the docs shows that this will export the metadata from all my public datasets... but all i get is {"status":"WORKFLOW_IN_PROGRESS"}
19:48 dataverse-user and on my logs it shows that the datasets where successfully exported
19:49 pdurbin Yeah, it's an example of an asynchronous job. It takes a while to run so from the curl command all you see is that message.
19:49 pdurbin You want a little report at the end?
19:50 dataverse-user Yeah, I need to get all the metadata from my public datasets
19:50 pdurbin Oh, that's... different.
19:50 pdurbin reExportAll is more about caching the metadata on disk
19:51 dataverse-user Oh ...
19:51 pdurbin so it can be retrieved quicker
19:51 pdurbin than going to the database
19:51 dataverse-user oh ok ... so it won't help me with my needs ...
19:51 pdurbin For all your public datasets I would suggest using the Search API.
19:52 dataverse-user Ok.. http://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/api/search.html this one
19:52 dataverse-user right?
19:52 pdurbin yep
19:53 dataverse-user ok Thanks!!
19:53 dataverse-user will try that! have a great night
19:55 pdurbin you too
