14:08 donsizemore @pdurbin morning. unless somebody tells me what to do re: a troubleshooting page i'm going to break one off from the developer troubleshooting section?
14:10 pdurbin donsizemore: morning. I made a note to myself to circle back to what you wrote about this in Slack.
14:11 donsizemore see, i knew you'd have thoughts
14:21 pdurbin I just sent a long-ish reply in Slack since there was already some chatter there.
14:39 poikilotherm pdurbin donsizemore while mentioning Slack: today I stumbled over https://zulipchat.com/for/open-source
14:39 poikilotherm Sounds like a SLOPI solution...
14:40 pdurbin "public archive". I love it.
14:44 poikilotherm And if we don't want to run our own installation: they offer free plans for open source projects
14:44 poikilotherm And they have one-way bridge to Slack (mirror messages into Zulip)
14:45 poikilotherm What I really like is the idea about the threading, better suited for distributed people
14:46 pdurbin Do they offer data liberation?
14:46 poikilotherm Oh and a user of Jülich DATA found gold :-D https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/7227
14:47 pdurbin sorry, back to Zulip for a moment... it says "logged-out public access" is only "coing soon"
14:59 pdurbin coming* soon
15:45 poikilotherm Public history: "Currently implemented as an out-of-tree tool, though a native feature built into the Zulip server is coming soon."
15:47 poikilotherm Looks like web public view is not that far away https://github.com/zulip/zulip/pull/16131

20:00 pdurbin poikilotherm: on this new laptop, should I still be installing postgres and solr and payara right on it? That's not what you do, right?
20:19 poikilotherm pdurbin yeah that's not what I do. You don't have to go crazy with K8s, you could start with containers for DB and index
20:20 poikilotherm We might take a look at creating that docker compose workflow together
20:21 poikilotherm Or we take a look at Testcontainers... Also usable to start a server locally with all the deps
20:21 poikilotherm Might be easier using just Maven instead of docker conpose
20:24 pdurbin When I was looking at Quarkus I did spin up postgres inside a container, briefly. It seemed to work fine.
20:27 poikilotherm The tools became very easy to use lately
20:28 poikilotherm Deployment times of Dataverse still suck. T_T
20:28 poikilotherm JRebel to the rescue
20:32 pdurbin Yeah, very slow to deploy.
20:51 pdurbin left #dataverse
21:41 pameyer postgres in docker is much simpler than straight postgres on mac (at least in my hands)
