14:41 pdurbin donsizemore: good morning and thanks for jumping in on https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-sample-data/issues/21
14:47 donsizemore @pdurbin I didn't mean to answer for him but a) I thought he might be asleep, and b) it points out an easy way to test
14:50 pdurbin The think I'm wondering is if we test sample data already with Jenkins. I can't remember if it's part of every build.
14:50 pdurbin thing*
14:52 pdurbin It looks like sampledata is not enabled in jenkins.yml. Which is fine. I'm just curious.
14:54 pdurbin As far as I know sampledata works fine for me. It hasn't changed much lately.
15:04 donsizemore we turned it off, though i forget why. i remember sampledata breaking in this way but looks like i forgot to open an issue
15:05 pdurbin It's kind of slow. Maybe that's why. :)
15:30 pdurbin Huh. It looks like when I install Docker on my Mac, I also get Kubernetes (and a bunch of other stuff): https://docs.docker.com/docker-for-mac/install/
17:14 pdurbin poikilotherm: during the design meeting, I just brought up https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/7227
17:15 poikilotherm Thx
17:18 pdurbin sure :)
20:34 poikilotherm I have a working proof of concept to create a dataverse-k8s container image from pom.xml with Docker Maven Plugin, using layers.
20:40 pdurbin Nice. I installed Docker today, at least. :)
20:44 pdurbin To make sure docker-aio still works. And it does. Some of the tests failure but I think the container died in the middle of the run.
20:45 poikilotherm OK
20:45 poikilotherm In case you're curious
20:46 poikilotherm https://github.com/poikilotherm/dataverse/commit/3713a6c1ec875cb11e20159c20163f1df2c06971
20:46 poikilotherm Simple call: mvn -P container package docker_build
20:46 poikilotherm docker:build. Typed to quick
20:46 poikilotherm This isn't working yet as it is still lacking the init scripts. But it has layers :-D
20:48 pdurbin I love seeing "FROM payara"... love that we're able to start with an existing app server docker image. Also, interesting that you're using Ubuntu instead of CentOS. I'm glad it works. :)
20:51 poikilotherm Yeah. Most stuff in the Dockerfile is about workarounds for application limitations
20:51 poikilotherm This will be much shorter :-D
20:54 pdurbin That's good. I'm drafting the community news for a few more minutes and then I'm out of here.
20:54 poikilotherm :-)
20:55 poikilotherm I'm hacking away on adding the rest of the supplemental stuff to get the container working
20:55 poikilotherm If I'm lucky I get this running before noon :-D
20:55 pdurbin :)
20:59 pdurbin left #dataverse
22:49 poikilotherm pdurbin I tested with minikube and an adapter Skaffold configuration. Proof of concept is working! Building Dataverse 5.0 badass fish flavored images from Maven.
