15:19 pdurbin poikilotherm: lol that you removed "Can we please stop using ":" in front of the version? It's an unnecessary character, needs escaping and can be missed easily." I totally agree but let's put that on the list for v2 of the API.
15:19 pdurbin Oh wait, you did leave it in. You just moved it down.
15:23 pdurbin Anyway, some nice thoughts in there. Thanks.
15:28 poikilotherm pdurbin: aye. And I still think we can make it work both ways. It's a switch case thing anyway.
15:29 poikilotherm Moved it while digging my way through the API
15:30 poikilotherm After writing it all up I eventually came to like the mixed flavor more than going with access api only. Feels more natural somehow...
15:34 pdurbin So would you actually use this thing that the issue is about?
15:35 pdurbin With wget -r or whatever?

16:58 poikilotherm Sure why not.
16:58 poikilotherm Ideally this is one step towards supporting WebDav
16:59 poikilotherm People still use shared drives a lot
16:59 poikilotherm Webdav can be mounted
16:59 poikilotherm And we could create an integration with Nextcloud
17:00 poikilotherm I experience scientists to sometimes move from the classic share workflow to cloud space workflow
17:00 pdurbin Nextcloud integration would be nice. You might be the first to ask for Webdav support. Are there any newer standards or protocols?
17:00 poikilotherm They still want stuff on their disc...
17:01 poikilotherm And this file Api could be a good starting point for integration with datalad
17:01 poikilotherm Which is a pretty big thing in neuroscience
17:02 poikilotherm Nextcloud is using webdav for client server communication ;-)
17:03 poikilotherm And as long as we don't want to implement a special plugin for Dataverse and Nextcloud, we might have to go with standards... ;-)
17:05 poikilotherm https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/admin_manual/configuration_files/external_storage_configuration_gui.html#available-storage-backends
17:06 pdurbin Is OpenStack Object Storage pretty much the same as S3?
17:11 poikilotherm Yeah. Swift.
17:13 pdurbin ok
17:13 poikilotherm By exposing the data files as easy to use URLs, git annex becomes much easier to use :-)
17:15 pdurbin Sure, I'm all exposing URLs to files. Make the API more RESTful. I'm just not sure about this wget crawlable HTML business but if users want it, fine.

17:51 pameyer I'd though nextcloud was webdav + non-standard extensions
18:36 pdurbin no idea
19:02 pdurbin poikilotherm: still there? Don't let me ruin your Friday night.
19:11 poikilotherm Hmm? At construction site....
19:14 poikilotherm How may I help you pdurbin
19:14 pdurbin poikilotherm: when you get a chance, pom.xml has merge conflicts in your postgres driver war pull request.
19:16 poikilotherm Meh. T_T
19:16 poikilotherm Thx for letting me know
19:17 pdurbin sure, and it's looking like the timers PR is going to QA
19:17 poikilotherm EJB Timers need to be done first, so no rush :-D
19:17 pdurbin yeah
19:18 poikilotherm Oh I see scolapasta approved \o/
19:21 poikilotherm Glad you folks are happy with it
19:22 pdurbin I think the merge conflict is just the payara version change. From .2 to .6.
19:22 poikilotherm Most likely the merge conflict is about the different payara version. I based all commits on the same develop, so that might be a problem for merge
19:23 pdurbin jinx
19:23 poikilotherm Heh. Yeah.
19:23 poikilotherm Same thought same time 😝
19:23 poikilotherm I can't tell from my mobile
19:23 pdurbin do you allow pushes to your branch?
19:27 poikilotherm Of course I do. Always.
19:28 nightowl313 just wanted to say hello to everyone without asking a question! hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
19:28 pdurbin :) hi nightowl313
19:29 nightowl313 :D
19:29 poikilotherm Hi nightowl313
19:30 poikilotherm Have a nice weekend, too :-)
19:30 nightowl313 :D :D
19:30 pdurbin poikilotherm: ok, merge conflicts resolved
19:37 pameyer hi and have a good weekend (or hope you had a good weekend, if you see this in the logs) ;)
19:38 pdurbin jeez it's only 2:30, get to work people
19:39 pameyer that was for nightowl313 only...
19:39 pameyer besides, with all the different time zones - it's time to stop _somewhere_ ;)
19:40 pdurbin true enough
19:40 pdurbin but she's out west, should keep working
19:40 * pdurbin cracks whip
19:40 pameyer hah
19:41 pameyer the downside of cross-timezone collaborations is that it's always working time somewhere too, which tends to translate into finding broken things
19:41 pameyer at all hours, I mean
19:41 pdurbin yeah
19:42 pdurbin gotta try to make it so stuff breaks less, I guess
19:44 pameyer that, and remembering that downtime is not just for servers
19:48 poikilotherm Thx pdurbin
19:48 poikilotherm Guess it should be time for me to let things rest for a few hours :-D
19:48 pdurbin There will be more Dataverse next week.
20:00 pameyer Thanksgiving Dataverse?
20:00 pdurbin There will be less than a usual amount of Dataverse next week due to a two day holiday.
20:26 pameyer maybe a wild turkey dataset or two
20:27 pdurbin plenty of those in mass :)
21:43 pdurbin Ok you turkeys, I'm heading out. See you Monday.
21:43 pdurbin left #dataverse
21:44 pameyer pdurbin: have a good weekend
