14:07 poikilotherm pdurbin nice call :-)
14:07 poikilotherm Maybe a bit technical for others :-D
14:50 pdurbin joined #dataverse
14:51 pdurbin poikilotherm: it WAS a nice call. I'm still leaning toward merging Slava's PR more or less as-is and dealing with technical debt later. It's a nice feature.
14:52 pdurbin Any PHP developers here? https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/iltyP_KGNMo/m/-SftjJ8tBgAJ
15:19 poikilotherm Pdurbin so do I. The only thing we should fix is not rely on a bloated JS library.
15:19 pdurbin Yeah, `fetch` ftw.

18:01 pdurbin Ok, here's my solution to the PHP puzzle: https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/iltyP_KGNMo/m/Ia3qhoNKBgAJ
18:05 pameyer pdurbin: diving into php should be extra kudos
18:05 pdurbin meh, it's not so bad :)
18:09 pdurbin Now to see if I can convince the original poster to write a PHP client for us. :)
18:15 pdurbin pameyer: possibily of interest... I'm getting a new VM from FASRC on which to host iqlogbot and it'll be running CentOS 7. So weird that EOL comes first for CentOS 8, from what I can tell.
18:16 pameyer pdurbin: we've seen the weirdness with EOL dates too.  I wouldn't be surprised if we did some cent8 to cent7 transitions because of it
18:17 pdurbin I'm looking at the dates at https://wiki.centos.org/About/Product
18:20 pameyer those look like the dates I've been using
18:21 pameyer do you know what Harvard Dataverse is on?
18:21 pameyer just occured to me that the CentOS changes might impact amazon linux AMIs
18:23 pdurbin I don't know. My gut is telling me 7.
18:28 pameyer me either - but that's how I'd guess too
18:47 pameyer on the topic of dataverse api clients in other libraries - am I remembering correctly that you've kicked the tires on the python one?
18:48 pdurbin Yeah, I used it for sample data.
18:48 pdurbin https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-sample-data
18:48 pdurbin In practice, it depends on requests so I ended up just using requests directly here and there.
18:49 pdurbin I'm using a pretty old version of pyDataverse. If it ain't broke.
18:49 pameyer very true - updates might bring new breakage....
18:52 pameyer I've been using requests directly too, with some ugliness for interoperating with metadata.
19:55 donsizemore RockyLinux got pushed to the end of April
19:55 donsizemore they're promising an RPM-swap for conversion from CentOS
19:56 pdurbin It'll be interesting to see what people switch to.
19:59 pameyer yeah - donsizemore is the only one I know who's been brave enough to try the centos stream switch
20:02 donsizemore the switch was easy. the sssd update that broke system auth was more problematic
20:03 donsizemore I think it was sssd_krb5, which by itself worked fine but didn't handle previously cached credentials
20:07 pameyer breaking auth is never fun
20:49 pdurbin left #dataverse
