17:21 pdurbin i have a correction to http://irclog.iq.harvard.edu/dvn/2012-12-19#i_182
17:22 pdurbin moving to maven doesn't really provide us any advantage over ant with regard to using the same build config on our laptops and in production. we're already doing this. we have it in source control
17:23 pdurbin i'm pretty sure this is our current build file: https://dvn.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/dvn/dvn-app/trunk/src/DVN-web/build.xml
17:47 pdurbin i posted my latest update to ticket about migrating from svn to github: https://redmine.hmdc.harvard.edu/issues/1188#note-10
17:51 pdurbin reading through https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/-dE_1rt6nlg/Qoy6bsIlKn0J reminds me to check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Archives_Initiative_Protocol_for_Metadata_Harvesting to learn a bit about the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH)
17:53 pdurbin i'm glad my https://github.com/pdurbin/dvn-vagrant got mentioned. and i'm glad it was characterized as "experimental" :)
21:02 pdurbin finding some good lucene stuff in Indexer.java, DVNSearchAnalyzer.java, etc. at https://dvn.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/dvn/dvn-app/trunk/src/DVN-EJB/src/java/edu/harvard/iq/dvn/core/index/
21:16 pdurbin hmm, Indexer.java goes all the way back to the first commit: http://dvn.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/dvn/src/DVN-EJB/src/java/edu/harvard/hmdc/vdcnet/index/Indexer.java?revision=1&view=markup&pathrev=1
21:22 pdurbin this guy is asking if he should move from lucene to solr: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2784076/building-a-case-for-solr
21:23 pdurbin the accepted answer includes "Solr is kind of a batteries-included, stand-alone Lucene, implementing features like faceting, caching, spell checking... then again, if you don't need these features..."
22:10 pdurbin ah, no wonder that first commit in svn has so much in it. the dvn was on cvs for a little while initially
