that's me :) |
18:24 |
|
chris____ |
Okay. |
18:25 |
|
chris____ |
So my question is, is there a way to import batch data from version control such as git into a user's study? |
18:25 |
|
chris____ |
I'm assuming no. |
18:25 |
|
pdurbin |
hmm, I'm not sure what you mean by "batch data" but as of DVN 3.3 we have a zip upload. many files can be uploaded at once if they are zipped first |
18:26 |
|
pdurbin |
"Ability to unzip zip files on upload (batch upload)" -- http://thedata.org/book/latest-releases ... yeah, it was 3.3 |

I have a few users who are heavy commandline users and don't care for the web interface of DVN. |
18:27 |
|
pdurbin |
ah. well, we do have an API, but it's read only right now |
18:27 |
|
chris____ |
That was my thought. |

I didn't see any editing capabilities in there. |

One more question |
18:28 |
|
pdurbin |
it looks like "Initial implementation of Data Deposit API, with SWORD 2 compliance" is slated for 3.6 according to http://thedata.org/book/upcoming-releases |
18:28 |
|
chris____ |
Sweet! |

One other question. |
18:29 |
|
pdurbin |
hmm, i don't see a ticket for it though |
18:30 |
|
pdurbin |
it would be here: https://redmine.hmdc.harvard.edu/projects/dvn |

If you have say three users each with their own dv and they decide to collaborate on a project together. If one insists on creating the study in their dv, is there a way to link or connect that study with the other user's dataverse? |
18:30 |
|
chris____ |
Okay thank you, I will take a look. |
18:30 |
|
pdurbin |
oh sure, I believe "collections" is the concept you're looking for |
18:31 |
|
chris____ |
great, thank you |
18:31 |
|
pdurbin |
http://guides.thedata.org/book/manage-collections might help |

We just put an instance of DVN online here at UMaine and I am getting slammed with questions faster than I can get up to speed with the capabilities of the system. |
18:32 |
|
pdurbin |
oh good |
18:32 |
|
pdurbin |
well, not that you're slammed :) |
18:32 |
|
chris____ |
I got ya. |
18:32 |
|
pdurbin |
you know you can email for support too, right? |
18:32 |
|
chris____ |
Yes. |
18:32 |
|
chris____ |
I saw you had an irc channel so I thought I would go there first. |
18:33 |
|
pdurbin |
sure. IRC is my go-to as well |
18:33 |
|
chris____ |
Thank you for your help. I'm sure we will be talking again soon. Best, Chris. |
