14:28 pdurbin new Trello board for Dataverse API design: https://trello.com/c/XPObBJLc/1-what-you-can-expect-from-this-dataverse-apis-board
14:35 pdurbin skay: I added you to the board
14:35 pdurbin jwhitney: you too
14:35 jwhitney pdurbin: thanks!
14:36 pdurbin oh sure :)
14:36 pdurbin please note the "Ideas" list
14:36 pdurbin everyone should feel free to make cards for their ideas :)

14:43 LyndsySimon I've not been involved with the DVN discussion deeply enough to have much input, but I've passed the link off to Josh here at COS.
14:44 pdurbin LyndsySimon: you da man
14:44 * LyndsySimon bows
14:45 pdurbin :)
14:47 LyndsySimon BRB - install a theme for Colloquy

14:47 skay weechat
14:47 LyndsySimon Back
14:47 pdurbin <3 weechat
14:48 LyndsySimon skay: I've used Weechat in the past, but didn't like how it will only let you split your windows in one direction.
14:48 LyndsySimon Plus I'm in the GUI 99% of the time these days, so Colloquy.
14:49 skay I was using a gui for a while, but when I was tethering I couldn't identify to freenode and it annoyed me enough that I run weechat in a tmux session
14:50 skay on a remote server
14:59 axfelix joined #dvn
15:12 pdurbin fancy. I'm still on screen
15:17 LyndsySimon remote server actually makes sense. I need to get comfy with tmux, too.
15:18 LyndsySimon I've used tiling window managers in the past - xmonad, dwm, Awesome, ScrotWM - so I never had a need.
15:22 skay I was on screen until last year
15:22 skay I was curious about tmux and decided to force myself to try it out
15:23 skay you don't have to set the whatever bit you have to set on the screen executable to have a shared screen session
15:23 skay and you don't have to patch it to have verticle splits
15:23 skay I am sure there are a lot of other nice things
15:23 pdurbin hmm. haven't had a need for either of those yet
15:24 skay I was using wmii for a bit and really liked it except that I didn't have it working with an external screen involved and it annoyed me enought to have to deal with X config files to deal with it that I stopped using it
15:26 skay oh and I got a lenovo yogi and troubleshooting display problems with that while also troubleshooting wmii external screen problems was also too annoying
15:26 skay troubleshooting linux install problems on that dang thing was annoying
15:26 skay right now users have to patch the kernal to use wifi
15:27 pdurbin skay: I gotta get you in #crimsonfu. we talk about this stuff all the time there
15:28 skay it would help me not to say so much offtopic chatter in here for sure
15:29 skay I usually end up talking about this stuff in some local channels like #chicagolug or #pumpingstationone for my linux user group and hackerspace respectively
15:34 pdurbin squirrel!
15:35 skay indeed!
15:36 skay I will go squirrel in other channels :)
15:45 pdurbin :)

19:29 LyndsySimon This is a long shot - has anyone here ever implemented 2-factor auth via HOTP? Google Authenticator uses HOTP, so experience with that would transfer.
19:44 pdurbin LyndsySimon: not implemented but I helped support this: https://github.com/fasrc/openauth
19:45 pdurbin LyndsySimon: maybe this is more descriptive: https://github.com/fasrc/openauth-puppet
19:46 LyndsySimon Awesome! I'm trying to use the "auth" package: http://pypi.python.org/pypi/auth
19:46 LyndsySimon I'm able to generate and verify keys, but when I b32encode the secret and use it with Google Authenticator, it's not generating the same keys.
19:46 pdurbin and this: https://github.com/fasrc/JAuth and http://mclamp.github.io/JAuth/
19:47 pdurbin http://rc.fas.harvard.edu/openauth/
19:48 pdurbin oh good, axfelix and rliebz are here
19:48 LyndsySimon hmm.. I'm not familiar enough with those project architectures to be efficient - could you point me to a section where you build the otpauth:// URL for Google Authenticator?
19:48 * LyndsySimon waves at @rliebz
19:48 * pdurbin wonders if they saw the new board: https://trello.com/b/mloLwYv8/dataverse-apis
19:48 axfelix have now :)
19:49 pdurbin LyndsySimon: maybe this? https://github.com/fasrc/openauth/blob/master/web/openauth/openauth.py
19:50 LyndsySimon Yep, i think so. Digesting it.
19:50 * pdurbin burps
19:51 LyndsySimon Soo.. the secret files contain a 16-char, base32-encoded string, correct?
19:52 rliebz lLyndsySimon: I have no idea how to wave.
19:52 pdurbin LyndsySimon: that's a better question for https://github.com/jabrcx
19:53 LyndsySimon rliebz: use "/me", then what you have want to "do". It's called an emote :)
19:54 LyndsySimon rliebz: It works in a lot of chat clients, and many games with chat.
19:54 * rliebz understands.
19:54 * LyndsySimon learned to do it in a MUD, and was happy to find it worked in EverQuest, circa 2001
19:54 * pdurbin even uses in the google talk (or whatever they call it now)
19:56 * skay nods
19:56 * skay notes that you can use bitlbee for an irc google talk experience
20:09 pdurbin meh. I'm ok with pidgin/adium but thanks :)
