IBICT: that's what I assumed. :) It's great! Welcome! I emailed my team about adding you to the map. But could you follow up with an email to support dataverse.org so we have your email address?

hey y'all.
17:55
bricas
I'm running dataverse 4.2.1 in a vagrant to do some testing. I've published a dataverse and dataset, so i can give deaccession a try, but i can't seem to find any place to do that.
17:56
bricas
I tried following the docs, but there isn't an "edit dataset" button anywhere.

bricas: hi!
18:16
pdurbin
you've found a known issue (regression) in 4.2.1. one moment
18:17
pdurbin
Deaccession: Regression in Production · Issue #2732 · IQSS/dataverse - https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2732
18:17
pdurbin
bricas: I believe that's the bug you're seeing, which is fixed in the 4.2.2 branch.
18:18
pdurbin
bricas: if you want to, you could run `vagrant up` from the 4.2.2 branch and help us verify that it's fixed. Totally up to you.
18:22
bricas
ah-ha. :)
18:23
bricas
since i'm just playing around for now, i won't bother re-creating my vagrant, but i'll make a note.
18:23
bricas
thanks!
18:25
pdurbin
oh sure. I just left a note that issue
18:25
pdurbin
bricas: please let us know if it turns out it's not the same issue
18:31
bricas
will do!
18:34
pdurbin
thanks
18:34
bricas
pdurbin: just to confirm, the archivematica integration is still in development right?
18:34
pdurbin
yep! have you seen https://wiki.archivematica.org/Dataverse ?
18:35
pdurbin
"proof of concept" for now
18:35
bricas
indeed, that's what i was just reading.
18:36
pdurbin
bricas: the Archivematica devs are on the Dataverse mailing list if you have any questions.
18:37
pdurbin
or I can try to answer them
18:37
pdurbin
or try to pull them in here :)
18:38
bricas
thanks. i'm just getting a sense of how things work and what dataverse can do, so "in development" is good enough for now :)
18:38
pdurbin
ok
18:42
pdurbin
bricas: if you have any questions, shoot :)
18:44
bricas
correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems only 1 copy of a file is saved to disk regardless of its association with multiple versions?
18:44
pdurbin
bricas: right. files are immutable in Dataverse
18:45
bricas
good to know.
18:46
bricas
also, as far as "linking" goes -- that just seems to "virtually" join two things together?
18:46
pdurbin
right
18:47
bricas
can you UNlink? :)
18:47
pdurbin
no :(
18:47
pdurbin
which is why the feature should be considered experimental
18:48
bricas
right.

18:56

thanks.
18:57
bricas
any timeline for 4.2.2 btw?
19:02

oh, another versioning question. you can't directly replace a file between version, you basically add a new one and delete the old one?
19:05
bricas
*between versions
19:05
pdurbin
bricas: right. again, files are immutable
19:06
bricas
kay!
19:06
pdurbin
bricas: there's an issue about changing this in github I think but I can't imagine we'd change it any time soon. it's pretty fundamental for us
19:07
bricas
noted.
19:08
pdurbin
bricas: if you can find it, please comment with the word "immutable" so I can find it :)
19:19
bricas
hrmm, can't find it.*shrug*
19:20
pdurbin
bricas: it may have been some internal brainstorming doc I'm thinking of. If you have a use case for this please go ahead and open a new issue.
19:22
axfelix
we're not that shifty!
19:22
axfelix
mostly we're just cold
19:23
pdurbin
heh
19:23
pdurbin
axfelix: actually, you know all about the Archivematica stuff too. bricas might have some questions.
19:24
axfelix
yeah, I'm just reviewing the last few minutes of IRC here ...
19:24
axfelix
happy to field archivematica Q's though
19:24
bricas
as i'm on a fact finding mission, the status is good enough at this point.
19:25
pdurbin
axfelix: I'm on the Archivematica list but I must admit that I have a filter to mark messages as read.
19:25
pdurbin
Dataverse is enough to keep up on. :)
19:26
pdurbin
I just searched and it seems like Dataverse doesn't come up there much.

yet!

I've never even tested the "[off]" feature. Maybe I'll take it out of https://github.com/pdurbin/philbot :)
20:22
pdurbin
bricas: now it looks like I'm talking to myself :)
20:23
bricas
hah
20:23
pdurbin
anyway, yes, it seems like iqlogbot supports "[off]" as documented at http://moritz.faui2k3.org/en/ilbot
20:23

lovely.
20:23

but maybe I'll take it out
