14:38 pdurbin donsizemore: morning. So how do we get Thu-Mai's issues in front of people? Has she considered calling in on the bi-weekly call? http://dataverse.org/community-calls
15:03 djbrooke joined #dataverse
15:06 pameyer joined #dataverse
15:20 andrewSC hey folks
15:21 donsizemore joined #dataverse
15:23 andrewSC touching back on the conversation yesterday regarding the ability of a user to create datasets but not publish them.. Going further back we had some discussions on possibly making a page/view where people would could publish datasets, would be allowed to see the drafts other people have made that are pending/requesting a publish
15:24 andrewSC the folks that could publish, would review the draft then could reject or accept the draft/publish it..
15:25 andrewSC I don't remember if it was pameyer or djbrooke or possibly donsizemore who I was speaking with about this idea of a prepub section
15:26 andrewSC I believe there was some internal discussion on a feature like it but I never heard anything more
15:26 andrewSC does this some vaguely familiar to anyone?
15:26 andrewSC s/some/sound/
15:28 pameyer not sure if this is what you're talking about - but we've been working on a workflow that's roughly: [user submits dataset for review (can't publish by themselves)] -> [curator reviews dataset, either sends it back, marks it as reviewed, or publishes it]
15:30 andrewSC that sounds about right
15:30 andrewSC do you guys have a timeline on that workflow? or is that still very much a work in progress?
15:38 pameyer depending on how rigourous you want to be, it's either something you could setup with the current release; or something that's transitioning from design -> implementation
15:39 pameyer w\ the current release, user can submit a datset for review and then edit it while it's in review
15:40 djbrooke joined #dataverse
15:51 pdurbin andrewSC: I'm pretty sure you can already configure Dataverse this way. You give people the "Curator" or "Admin" role at the dataverse and they can see all the unpublished datasets.
15:52 pdurbin donsizemore: did you see my message earlier?
15:58 djbrooke joined #dataverse
16:17 andrewSC pdurbin: yeah it's definitely possible to some extent now, was just wondering if there was any progress on the other workflow
16:30 djbrooke joined #dataverse
16:39 michbarsinai joined #dataverse
16:42 pdurbin andrewSC: I guess I don't really understand the other workflow you're proposing. And I have code to write so many you could create a GitHub issue or write to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/dataverse-community . Maybe we just need to document better how to set up Dataverse to support the workflow you have in mind.
16:44 andrewSC I think the workflow I'm proposing is what pameyer described at 10:28 in the chat
16:44 andrewSC so I believe you guys are already working on it haha
16:47 pdurbin ah, sure, "mark as reviewed" would be a new feature. some details about this at "Design Document for Publication Workflows": https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GFrCh23TdYc87dBi4xg5Pl2_Gf1usQqrqaik2-i7V7A/edit?usp=sharing
16:48 pdurbin pameyer: I meant to put that in the notes of the last community call. whoops. these: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/6Twh8KLhmQg/rR9TP-cPAQAJ
16:51 pameyer "mark as reviewed" might be one of the parts that gets pushed back
16:51 pameyer "don't change under the reviewers" is first up
16:52 pdurbin pameyer: is there a GitHub issue for it?
16:53 pameyer pdurbin: I believe so, but I'll have to look up which one
16:54 pdurbin when you have time. thanks

19:10 pdurbin pameyer: ah perfect. Shall we add the "SBGrid" label?
19:10 pdurbin andrewSC_: does that issue capture what you want? https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3172
19:11 pameyer FYI - I'm adding a link to that from 3561 so I don't have to hunt around next time I forget where it is
20:15 michbarsinai Well, guess whose supporting SAML and Shibboleth now: GitHub.com!

20:21 andrewSC pdurbin: hey sorry, just got out of a meeting. That definitely looks like it captures the workflow I had in mind!
20:23 pdurbin andrewSC: ok. You might want to subscribe or leave a comment or give it a thumbs up or whatever
20:24 pdurbin michbarsinai: I saw!
20:24 andrewSC will do! :)
20:26 pdurbin pameyer: did you say Bill wrote one of these for DataCite? https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/tree/v4.6/src/main/java/edu/harvard/iq/dataverse/export
20:26 pameyer pdurbin: yup
20:26 pameyer link incoming
20:26 pdurbin cool. where's the code?
20:26 pdurbin you knew I'd ask :)
20:27 pameyer https://github.com/sbgrid/sbgrid-dataverse/tree/feature/datacite-xml
20:27 pameyer I don't think it was completely finished (other higher priorities); but finished enough that there was a button for it that showed up automaticly
20:29 pdurbin Gotcha. I'm looking at https://github.com/sbgrid/sbgrid-dataverse/blob/098b56b531f0c3e5cad689ef39eb54d321071587/mod-sbgrid/src/main/java/edu/harvard/iq/dataverse/export/DataciteExporter.java
20:29 pdurbin Is there an issue for this?
20:31 pdurbin Ah, Bill already linked to this branch at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2917#issuecomment-270693674
20:35 pdurbin pameyer: thanks. It was on my list to follow up with you about this.
20:35 pameyer pdurbin: glad to help get things off your list :)

21:28 michbarsinai @pameyer: Can I make changes to RSAL? Would that break anything?
21:28 michbarsinai I mean, if it doesn't break anything, why bother, right?
21:40 pameyer michbarsinai: replied through other channels; but changes to the RSAL repo won't break my production (yet)
21:40 michbarsinai Cool. Thks.
