donsizemore: sorry, busy day yesterday and I'm still trying to finish something (#3443). It's weird to have a 500 error without a stacktrace, in my experience. It would be nice to see which line is failing. I'm talking about https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3797

attn @pdurbin: http://irss-gftest.irss.unc.edu/ 4.6.1 over Glassfish5 *almost* made it through a clean deployment =) i took notes along the way. is there a place you'd like to aggregate notes, or should i open granular issues?

why use shell provisioning in vagrant instead of using ansible provisioner?

@pameyer the only issue that comes to my mind would be the version of ansible in the vagrant box, but that can be updated when you bring up the vagrant box

ah - and that let's you do `vagrant up` on a host system that doesn't have ansible installed

@pameyer you would want the ansible binary inside the vagrant box (either baked in or installed/updated as part of the vagrant provisioning)

the drawback of that approach is matching the ansible versions that are being used in production with the version within vagrant
