@pdurbin: early bird catches the worm... :-)

Thx for assigning

Any chance this stuff might get reviewed in the nearer / nearest future?

poikilotherm: hi! I'm about to bike to work. We usually completely unassign issues during code review so it's clear to us at standup that one of us needs to work on it.

If you look at https://waffle.io/IQSS/dataverse you'll see that there's a lot of stuff in QA right now so while the review might happen relatively quickly, it might take a while to test and merge.

Ok... Any hints how to go on from here? Shall I just sit calm and wait or try to improve things like testing, etc?

(Which would result in even more stuff to review, test and merge)

poikilotherm: I think it was good that you suggested to the people who opened the issue to test your branch.

yoh: nice to see https://github.com/whole-tale/whole-tale/pull/42 ! :)

donsizemore: mornin. Do you think I should hack on that ec2 script any more? Or should I add it to http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.9.2/installation/prep.html#choose-your-own-installation-adventure ?

@pdurbin i really like "choose your own adventure" — and love that you play up IQSS' willingness to bless community submissions

The community is definitely better at DevOps than we are.
14:02
donsizemore
and you're better at Java EE programming than they are!

donsizemore: I just added this to the pull request: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/commit/7021ae1
14:04
pdurbin
mentioned the new script from the installation guide
14:05
donsizemore
so you all will be using that pretty regularly for your development?
14:08
pdurbin
donsizemore: we'll see how it goes. I can see myself using it for sure. When a pull request comes in, I'd rather spin it up on AWS than have to switch branches on my Mac. Will the script be easy enough to use that our design team will feel comfortable checking if the developers actually built what they designed? Not sure.

Currently we only have a few servers on which we deploy unmerged code.

In my world /bin/bash is always an executable. It's always there. It always works.

well, there probably won't be any PRs from devs on Tru64

I hear Bash 4 has some nice features. I'm looking forward to when it's everywhere.

I haven't dug into the new bash features yet - just as long as nothing breaks ;)
