12:26 stefankasberger @pdurbin: do you have time for a call now/later?
12:38 pdurbin stefankasberger: hmm. I'm about to have breakfast. I need to get to work in time for a call in 2 hours (9:30 my time). Maybe I could go to the room early and call you in about an hour?
13:01 stefankasberger that would be great. skype or how would you like?
13:01 pdurbin_m joined #dataverse
13:02 pdurbin_m stefankasberger: I can send you a Zoom link if that works. What are we talking about? :)

13:20 poikilotherm Morning donsizemore
13:29 pdurbin_m stefankasberger: I'd like to pick your brain about https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/5899

13:46 Benjamin_Peuch Hello everybody!
13:47 Benjamin_Peuch Hello, stefankasberger. We were wondering if one of the perks of pyDataverse, since it incorporates features such as Import a Dataset, could be a more user-friendly interface? Something closer to Dataverse GUI.
13:47 Benjamin_Peuch Something less scary for non-computer scientist/technician people than the command prompt.
13:48 Benjamin_Peuch But I saw in your presentation at Harvard (congratulations by the way!) that the target audience were the developers, so maybe it's not what we're looking for?
13:52 stefankasberger Sure, zoom works. Have some general questions about upgrading.
13:54 stefankasberger @Benjamin_Peuch: in general, i think thats a good idea. Slava and I were thinking about a webservice for that, which the DDI Service DANS develops right now basically is. But it is not planned for the development of pyDataverse itself. More, that another tool uses pyDataverse and builds an GUI or Webservice upon it.
13:55 pdurbin_m stefankasberger: ok. oh! https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/5794#issuecomment-584379823 please check that out too :)

14:04 Benjamin_Peuch stefankasberger: Oh, this is splendid news!
14:04 Benjamin_Peuch Thanks for your reply. :)
14:07 pdurbin A GUI for pyDataverse sounds awesome. :)
14:08 pdurbin stefankasberger: I just need to grab the key for the conference room. Then I'll fire up Zoom. Are we inviting others here? :) Reminder that I have a different call in 20 minutes so we'll have to be quick!
14:16 pdurbin stefankasberger: ok, here you go: https://harvard.zoom.us/j/949521424
14:20 pdurbin stefankasberger: will you be around an hour from now? I'm thinking we should talk *after* my meeting that starts in 10 minutes. :)
14:21 stefankasberger sure. think after is better too.
14:21 pdurbin phew
14:28 poikilotherm stefankasberger: any ideas on dvcli from your side?
14:29 stefankasberger Not really right now. Am very busy for the next 2 weeks, but then my brain is opening up again. :)
14:29 poikilotherm Sure! :-)
14:29 poikilotherm Good look with upgrading
14:30 poikilotherm s/look/luck/
14:30 stefankasberger But its not that far away from the idea of pyDataverse I think.
14:30 stefankasberger so I think I could be helpful, in what I thought through in the last year.
14:30 poikilotherm Yeah. Most things will be a handsome wrapper around it, so you can use it at your fingertips ;-)
14:38 stefankasberger in which language are CL tools for unix systems developed? C?
14:52 poikilotherm All kinds of :-D
14:52 poikilotherm I'm doing this in Python
15:32 poikilotherm pdurbin I just sent you guys a present on Github
15:39 donsizemore @poikilotherm I saw! (that's still on my list for jenkins.dataverse, promise)
15:39 donsizemore (unless that's where you ran it, then cool)
15:40 poikilotherm Thx donsizemore
15:40 poikilotherm Nope, ran it locally.
15:40 poikilotherm I could do it on Jenkins
15:40 poikilotherm Actually did
15:41 poikilotherm But it doesn't integrate nicely
15:41 poikilotherm No web ui for reports :-/
15:41 poikilotherm And it's slooooooow
15:41 poikilotherm 13 minutes
15:42 donsizemore but worth the wait =)
15:42 poikilotherm Found 180 issues...
15:50 donsizemore CVE-2010, CVE-2011 =(
15:51 stefankasberger @pdurbin: are you still here?
16:05 dataverse-user joined #dataverse
16:05 dataverse-user hi
16:06 dataverse-user i need to change host name of server where is instaled Dataverse
16:06 dataverse-user from Datarepositorium.sdum.uminho.pt to Datarepositorium.sdum.uminho.pt
16:06 dataverse-user how can i do that?
16:07 dataverse-user i already change apache configuratio to redirect form old url to new url
16:07 dataverse-user but in dataverse configuration still use old name
16:08 donsizemore @dataverse-user you can tell Dataverse its new name by updating dataverse.siteurl in /usr/local/glassfish4/glassfish/domains/domain1/config/domain.xml and restarting glassfish
16:09 dataverse-user thanks
16:09 donsizemore @dataverse-user you can tell your server/VM its new name in /etc/hostname or equivalent, depending on your OS
16:09 dataverse-user ubuntu server
16:09 dataverse-user already change hosts
16:09 donsizemore still /etc/hostname
16:09 dataverse-user and hostname
16:10 dataverse-user on config "Identifier   https://datarepositorium.sdum.uminho.pt/dataverse/"
16:10 donsizemore oh, and dataverse.fqdn in domain.xml
16:11 pdurbin stefankasberger: I'm so sorry but that meeting went longer than expected and now we have standup in 4 minutes. When would be a good time for you?
16:11 dataverse-user yes
16:11 dataverse-user ok
16:13 donsizemore @dataverse-user for your DOIs I think you want to do this (but if you have a ton, you may want to automate?) https://support.datacite.org/docs/fabrica-update-doi
16:14 stefankasberger later is still good.
16:15 pdurbin Ok, so maybe in 20 minutes or so? After standup.
16:28 dataverse-user thanks guys. site is already using new name. "Identifier   https://datarepositorium.uminho.pt/dataverse/uminho"
16:28 dataverse-user now, we need to update DOI ?
16:31 dataverse-user i only change this, to: <jvm-options>-Ddataverse.fqdn=datarepositorium.uminho.pt</jvm-options>
16:34 dataverse-user i dont have "siteUrl" configured
16:37 stefankasberger Please contact me on skype (cheeseman1983) or via email. i dont get notifications from irc...
16:40 pdurbin cheeseman?
16:40 pdurbin dataverse-user: you should configure siteUrl for sure
16:41 pdurbin stefankasberger: it say "waiting for Stefan to accept invitation". I'm greptilian on Skype. This is getting weird. :)
16:45 dataverse-user ok
18:07 stefankasberger @donsizemore: would you have time for a chat about some upgrading questions later on or tomorrow?
18:07 jri joined #dataverse
18:24 pdurbin boy does he have questions ;)
18:29 donsizemore @stefankasberger absolutely! @pdurbin don't scare me like that
18:47 pdurbin donsizemore: I mean, when *do* you upgrade PostgreSQL when you're going from Dataverse 4.6.2 to 4.18.1? I have no idea.
18:50 donsizemore @pdurbin Odum moved to Postgres-9.3 when we migrated from 3.6.3 to 4.6.4, but the only hard requirement is PostgresQL-9.6 as of Dataverse 4.15
18:59 stefankasberger right now?
18:59 pdurbin Makes sense. I encouraged stefankasberger to create a Google doc (or whatever) with his thoughts on what steps to take when so that we could take a look.
19:00 stefankasberger @donsizemore: right now?

19:00 donsizemore @stefankasberger sure thing, that's fine
19:01 stefankasberger skype, or something else?

19:01 donsizemore (or i'm donsizemore on skype if you like)
19:04 pdurbin I already gave stefankasberger a brain dump earlier but lemme know if you have a specific question.

19:33 pdurbin stefankasberger: "It takes ~18hrs to fully reindex" https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/6631#issuecomment-585931103
19:41 poikilotherm But as long as you are on 7.x you should be good to go with an inplace reindex. I'm pretty sure that one's much faster.
19:42 poikilotherm And once he is on 4.11, when Flyway has been introduced, it should be only necessary to update the citation block once and reindex once, right?
19:43 poikilotherm (After moving to 4.19 from there)
19:43 poikilotherm Btw pdurbin do you know how big Harvard DV is in terms of no of datasets?
19:50 donsizemore @poikilotherm {"status":"OK","data":{"count":31217}} seems low
19:50 donsizemore @poikilotherm from https://dataverse.harvard.edu/api/info/metrics/datasets
19:51 donsizemore @poikilotherm correct, I told him that he only technically needs to re-index once, after the last upgrade
19:52 donsizemore (by "him" I mean Stefan, unless you meant Kevin above)
20:08 pdurbin donsizemore is all over the metrics. poikilotherm ^^ :)

23:23 poikilotherm Wow guys the merge of the solr pr came quick and unexpected!
23:23 jri joined #dataverse
23:24 poikilotherm Thank you for unblocking me, I feel delighted to merge things in dv-k8s then, now that we have kinda officiall support ;-)
23:25 poikilotherm pdurbin if you have a second or two, please think about my comment on #6633 about creating an issue about the deprecated fields. I'm off to bed now, it's kinda late here...
