02:00 yoh pdurbin: btw -- may be you could just follow https://groups.google.com/forum/#!search/incf-datasharing ?  I have cross-posted across quite a few, so if any activity would diverge to other mailing list -- I will let you know ;)
02:01 pdurbin yoh: it says " You must be a member of this group to view and participate in it. "
03:24 yoh pdurbin: ah... might well be -- I bet they would not mind if you join ;-)
11:57 pdurbin yoh: probably not but I'm on enough mailing lists already. :)
14:16 yoh pdurbin: I bet you do not beat me on that end ;-)  actually nice feature of googlegroups is that you can use them as a 'forum', i.e. you would not even receive emails, just use web frontend to read/reply.
14:20 pdurbin yoh: true. and we recently enabled some new forum features on our google group: Added Features to the Dataverse Users Google Group - Google Groups - https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/dataverse-community/gJVRWDB1Zak
14:29 pdurbin yoh: anyway, if you could let me know if anyone replies I would appreciate it
14:30 pdurbin neuroscience is one of the domains we'd like to support in the future
14:30 pdurbin yoh: some day I'll send our main metadata guru your way :)
14:53 yoh we have few of our metadata gurus and I am not among them ;)  here is what Satra said:
14:53 yoh to add to this, there is a related effort to curate brain imaging data
14:53 yoh into dataverse as well. i had a recent meeting with gabriele fariello, tim
14:53 yoh clark, and merces crosas. there are some data citation principles being
14:53 yoh worked on as well as some of the nidm elements (this is resting nifti data
14:53 yoh with demographics and cognitive/neuropsych assessments).
14:59 pdurbin yoh: interesting. too bad the mailing list archive isn't public. oh well, thanks for letting me know!
15:04 yoh I will check with "the mailing list"
15:04 pdurbin heh
15:04 pdurbin yoh: you can send them this link: http://blog.codinghorror.com/maximizing-the-value-of-your-keystrokes/ :)
15:05 yoh let me just keep it in my sleave happen the discussion arise
15:05 pdurbin :)
15:35 pdurbin I just posted this... I talked about Dataverse on Hacker Public Radio! https://soundcloud.com/philipdurbin/dataverse-on-hacker-public-radio-1490 :)
15:36 pdurbin my post to our mailing list: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/rR9u9KWMltg/5ssEJObZCyIJ
15:53 pdurbin balo: I talk a bit about mod_shib vs. mod_auth_mellon
15:55 balo pdurbin: thanks, in the interview?
15:55 yoh NELF... I was few years back at... missed this one I guess
15:55 pdurbin balo: yep
15:56 pdurbin yoh: it was my second one. good times
15:58 balo thanks, i will check out tomorrow. it's friday evening, i should have been drunk already. i'm always late...
16:02 pdurbin heh
16:02 pdurbin shauna: too bad you weren't feeling well and couldn't attend
16:09 yoh pdurbin: btw -- is there any work on packaging dataverse for e.g. Debian? ;)
16:11 pdurbin yoh: oh, wow. I'd love that
16:12 pdurbin yoh: here's a related thread: Automating DVN installation - Google Groups - https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/dataverse-community/rpm/dataverse-community/ZX6RIqbHUHk/aTl-heYLiHYJ
16:15 pdurbin yoh: how often are Java web services packaged on Debian? Dataverse is distributed as a .war file
16:18 yoh we do have a few: guacamole, jets3t, and probably others... but it is not just a matter of delivery, but rather -- verification of copyright/licenses, modularization (not shipping 3rd party modules inside, but use system-wide installed), upgrade paths, and initial configuration (best way is to provide at least a minimal debconf interface to provide essential configuration options -- db name, server, etc)
16:19 pdurbin hmm, I'll have to check out how guacamole and jets3t are packaged. I haven't heard of them
