well, from what I understand deaccessioning is for *versions* of datasets, not necessarily the entire dataset (but you could deaccession all versions)

I can make a draft version of a dataset, then Deaccession it, so I still got a draft version. It doesn't ask me if I want to Deaccession all datasets version (as opposed to the doc saying that)

we've had offline discussions in the past here about this and i believe we are moving towards allowing users to create a new version of a dataset after it has been deaccessioned. i'll bring that issue back to life and have our go to person for this (Eleni Castro) throw her thoughts into that ticket

romainM, i'll try that out in beta.dataverse.org and see if the ability to keep a draft version of a deaccessioned dataset is happening (i'm presuming this workflow would be, dataset with versions (one being a draft), deaccession all but the draft, able to go in and continue to edit that draft)
