08:21 romainM hello
10:46 pdurbin romainM: hi
15:14 romainM hum
15:14 romainM I got a strange case
15:14 romainM about Deaccessioned datasets
15:15 romainM a Deaccessioned dataset should not have draft versions,  no ?
15:15 pdurbin it can
15:15 romainM I can't make a draft version of a Deaccessioned dataset, but if I do a draft before, I can publish it again
15:16 romainM so .. it is intended ?
15:16 pdurbin well, from what I understand deaccessioning is for *versions* of datasets, not necessarily the entire dataset (but you could deaccession all versions)
15:17 pdurbin romainM: is http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.2/user/dataset-management.html#deaccession-your-dataset-not-recommended clear enough?
15:17 romainM if I could make a draft version of a Deaccessioned dataset, I would understand. But when I put a dataset in the if I could make a draft version of a Deaccessioned dataset,  state, I can't make a draft of it anymore. I'm .. . done, like this
15:18 romainM not really
15:19 romainM I can make a draft version of a dataset, then Deaccession it, so I still got a draft version. It doesn't ask me if I want to Deaccession all datasets version (as opposed to the doc saying that)
15:20 romainM in an other case, if I Deaccession directly a dataset, I can't make a draft of it anymore
15:20 romainM that's a strange case for me, maybe I'm not getting something here
15:23 pdurbin romainM: reinforcements are on the way. please hold
15:23 romainM ok ^^

15:25 romainM it is the cavalry ?
15:25 romainM :D
15:26 equigley hi romainM, it is the calvary. i have been summoned
15:26 romainM well hello
15:27 equigley hello to you as well. hold on, i'm getting the github issue that relates to this (we've talked about this as a problem internally)
15:27 romainM sorry to bother you with this ^^"
15:27 romainM oh
15:27 equigley not a bother at all!
15:28 equigley okay. so it turns out the issue was created by Dataverse IRC master, Phil. https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/1267
15:29 equigley we've had offline discussions in the past here about this and i believe we are moving towards allowing users to create a new version of a dataset after it has been deaccessioned. i'll bring that issue back to life and have our go to person for this (Eleni Castro) throw her thoughts into that ticket
15:29 equigley we had these conversations while Eleni was on maternity leave, so we held off on making a decision till she was back
15:29 romainM okay
15:29 romainM so that's still an issue
15:30 romainM that's what I wanted to know
15:30 romainM and giving the right to make a new version of a deaccessioned dataset seems to be the good solution here
15:31 pdurbin romainM: please feel free to leave a comment on that issue
15:31 romainM according that you can still "keep" a draft version of a deaccessioned dataset
15:31 romainM okay, I'll add something to this
15:31 pdurbin equigley: thanks for reminding me of that issue. funny that I was the one who opened it :)
15:32 equigley romainM, i'll try that out in beta.dataverse.org and see if the ability to keep a draft version of a deaccessioned dataset is happening (i'm presuming this workflow would be, dataset with versions (one being a draft), deaccession all but the draft, able to go in and continue to edit that draft)
15:32 romainM thanks for your help :)
15:32 romainM I'm on beta
15:32 equigley oh would you mind checking for me then? if so and it isn't working that way, would you mind adding that to the issue i sent?
15:33 romainM just made a test earlier, I'm doing it again for you
15:33 equigley thank you!
15:35 romainM I got a draft and a published dataset here
15:35 romainM https://beta.dataverse.org/dataverse/grimdataverse
15:35 romainM are you superadmin ?
15:35 romainM to see draft versions ?
15:35 romainM I will screenshot that
15:36 equigley i can see it! (i've got the superadmin powers for all the dataverse sites, muahahaha!)
15:37 pdurbin heh
15:39 romainM ^^
15:39 romainM hum
15:39 romainM now I got something strange
15:39 equigley oh do tell!
15:40 romainM previously, the deaccessioned dataset could be seen in the dataverse
15:40 romainM now I just the draft unpublished one
15:40 romainM *just see
15:41 romainM the vision thingy appart, I did wat you said
15:42 romainM make a dataset, publish it, create a draft, deaccession the dataset, edit the draft then publish it
15:45 equigley you are seeing the draft version appear because that is the most recent version of the daaset
15:45 equigley dataset

15:49 romainM I must had some hallucination ...
15:49 romainM probably working too much ! :D
15:50 romainM well, thanks for helping
15:50 romainM gonna post on the issue then getting back home :)
15:52 equigley okay! thanks for bringing this to our attention romainM
15:52 romainM oh, just forgot that I had something else in mind
15:52 equigley yes...
15:52 romainM concerning the metadatas block
15:53 romainM I talked about it with pdurbin some times before
15:53 romainM to do a custom metadata block
15:54 romainM How should I proceed if I wanted to submit to you a new metadata block ?
15:54 romainM (if it is still possible ?)
15:54 equigley definitely still possible! you'd want to contact Eleni Castro who will review it. I'd recommend creating a github issue and assigning it to posixeleni
15:57 pdurbin equigley: hey so how's the usability of http://chat.dataverse.org anyway? :)
15:58 pdurbin (I stood it up but I don't use it) :)
15:58 equigley pdurbin, needs emoji support (i haven't found it yet)
15:59 equigley i'm used to chatting in slack which has lots of emoji support
15:59 axfelix joined #dataverse
15:59 romainM okay, I will take care of that tomorrow
15:59 equigley great! have a good evening romainM
15:59 pdurbin equigley: you should open an issue: https://github.com/erming/shout/issues :)
16:00 romainM thanks again and have a good day both of you :)
16:00 romainM (and the sleeping people around here)
16:00 pdurbin romainM: take care. it's a pleasure, as always

20:38 ata_t Hi all
20:39 ata_t I have some questions about setting up dv, is this the right place
20:41 pdurbin ata_t: it *is* the right place! welcome!
20:41 ata_t Hi thx
20:42 ata_t I installed dataverse on a centos 7.0, I think I managed to install solr correctly
20:42 ata_t http://128.52.185.117:8983/solr/#/
20:42 ata_t also I see sth at 8080 as well
20:42 ata_t http://128.52.185.117:8080
20:42 ata_t so it seems glassfish is up as well
20:43 pdurbin ata_t: looks like it. you'll definitely want to firewall off Solr eventually though! :)
20:43 ata_t yep sure I can turn it off asap - opened it for discussing in here
20:43 ata_t i was wondering if this is what I shouold be seeing
20:44 ata_t on http://128.52.185.117:8080
20:44 ata_t i was expecting to see sth more like the demo site
20:44 pdurbin ata_t: it looks like glassfish is up but the war file hasn't yet been deployed
20:46 ata_t hmm any hints on how I deploy it,
20:46 pdurbin ata_t: first I would run `asadmin list-applications` per http://wiki.greptilian.com/java/glassfish
20:46 pdurbin (that's my site... some notes)
20:47 pdurbin ata_t: really the install script should deploy the war file for you though... did you run the install script? http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.2/installation/installer-script.html
20:49 ata_t i cannot download the dvnstall.zip from that link
20:50 ata_t instead I cloned the repo and went under scripts/installer and ran the install script there
20:50 pdurbin hmm, you're right. you can download it from https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/releases/tag/v4.2
20:50 pdurbin but it's called dvinstall-4.2.zip
20:51 pdurbin ata_t: I'd start with a release rather than cloning a repo
20:51 ata_t oh ok, so how do I drop the db then
20:51 ata_t I think I already created a db
20:53 ata_t nvm I can look it up
20:53 pdurbin ata_t: well, your mileage may vary but I've used this in the past: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/blob/4.3/scripts/deploy/apitest.dataverse.org/rebuild
20:54 ata_t this is super nice, thx, let me try and inform you in a bit
20:55 pdurbin ata_t: you like my little scripts? :) great!
21:06 pdurbin ata_t: hey, I gotta run to class soon ( http://wiki.greptilian.com/r :) ) but if you run into trouble please feel free to ask at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/dataverse-community
21:09 ata_t thx
