pdurbin: I'll create that gissue this morning
13:16

Just to follow up on yesterday though: Do you know if this is the comprehensive list of tables I need to check for removal of a dataset entirely (after it's been deaccessioned): dvobject, dataset, datasetversion, and termsofuseandaccess

pdurbin: actually just read yesterday's IRC logs :) http://irclog.iq.harvard.edu/dataverse/2017-02-27 I'll give the API a shot after this mtg

@andrewSC my apologies, i saw the convo yesterday and completely forgot our using the destroy endpoint
13:47
donsizemore
i have a wonderful memory once it's prompted.

donsizemore: who are you again? ;)

* pdurbin
gives iqlogbot a treat

pdurbin
andrewSC: thanks for reading the logs

andrewSC
pdurbin: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/3652 hopefully that makes sense..
14:02
andrewSC
My brain is kinda frazzled
14:04
pdurbin
andrewSC: looks good. Each dataset landing page has a URL that has something like persistentId=doi:10.7910/DVN/KEJD7R . What would you like the persistentId to be?
14:06
andrewSC
what if the persistentId was a short hash generated by dataverse?
14:07
andrewSC
If you went that route I'm not sure what the migration path looks like for old versions..
14:21
pdurbin
I guess what I'm thinking is that under the covers each dataset has a database id, the primary key in the "dataset" table.

like this: https://demo.dataverse.org/dataset.xhtml?id=42
14:31
pdurbin
I don't know if that helps you at all, though.
14:36
andrewSC
oh yeah the entityId
14:36
andrewSC
that would work too :)
14:37
pdurbin
something to think about, at least

mhmm

Yeah I mean as djbrooke has mentioned on the gissue, it seems like a principal of the project is to foster collaboration and sharing, not make it an option. To me, it makes sense that if you have a specific need to make DOI's optional, then you should fork the project and make that change yourself
14:41
andrewSC
which is what I did, but I created the gissue just to put it out there/per request yesterday :)
14:42
pdurbin
andrewSC: yes, thank you. That way there's a place for the community to discuss it. Besides, we like branches created for pull requests to have issue numbers in them. :)
14:43
andrewSC
mhmmmm!
14:43
andrewSC
:)
14:44
pdurbin
you've already pushed a branch somewhere?
14:45
andrewSC
oh nah, I just made the changes in a branch locally for the time being.. I basically just deleted a good amount of conditionals from the publishdatasetcommand

donsizemore, pdurbin: https://github.com/tdilauro/dataverse-ansible-role/releases/tag/v1.1 - updated for work I did in my https://github.com/tdilauro/dataverse/tree/2003-instance-branding branch (and https://github.com/tdilauro/dataverse/tree/2003-instance-branding-on-v4.6)
14:49
iamtimmo_
Was it something I said? ;)
14:50
pdurbin
iamtimmo_: good stuff! I'm looking for the GitHub issue to put those links in. They got reorganized last week.
14:50
pdurbin
Right at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2003 we said "@tdilauro I will be following up with you regarding your branched code." ... but that issue is now closed and new ones were opened.
14:51
pdurbin
iamtimmo_: do your changes apply to all three of the new issues mentioned at the end of issue 2003?
14:52
iamtimmo_
pdurbin: yep. They could cut across all three of those, potentially. The settings could be used on the header, footer, and homepage.
14:53
pdurbin
iamtimmo_: cool. Would you mind leaving comments on each of the issues then?
14:55
iamtimmo_
pdurbin: Can I just put a comment on 2003 that references the three new issues?
14:56
pdurbin
iamtimmo_: yes, please
14:57
