Just to follow up on yesterday though: Do you know if this is the comprehensive list of tables I need to check for removal of a dataset entirely (after it's been deaccessioned): dvobject, dataset, datasetversion, and termsofuseandaccess

I guess what I'm thinking is that under the covers each dataset has a database id, the primary key in the "dataset" table.

Yeah I mean as djbrooke has mentioned on the gissue, it seems like a principal of the project is to foster collaboration and sharing, not make it an option. To me, it makes sense that if you have a specific need to make DOI's optional, then you should fork the project and make that change yourself

which is what I did, but I created the gissue just to put it out there/per request yesterday :)

oh nah, I just made the changes in a branch locally for the time being.. I basically just deleted a good amount of conditionals from the publishdatasetcommand

Right at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2003 we said "@tdilauro I will be following up with you regarding your branched code." ... but that issue is now closed and new ones were opened.
